Concerning BitGuard VPN
« on: January 28, 2013, 05:07:48 AM »
Hello Baka Community, I have a question. I have a question concerning BitGuard. I notice that when I am not seeding through BitGuard my seed rate increases drastically. A torrent that I might have been pulling 4-5 kb/s with the VPN turns out 156kbs without it. My question is why is this so? I'm one of those guys that wants to to contribute to seeding, but doesn't want to have his ISP dump him or get sued. Is it safe to seed here without a VPN? I'm new here and would like to get some experienced feedback.

Thank You

It's absolutely normal to have lower seeding speed throught VPN because the seeding speed doesn't only depend on your connection but connection of your VPN which might be slow or used by alot of users.

Solution: Buy seedbox it's safe and incredibly fast (not even expensive).

I would assume that most members don't use a VPN where it is not necessary (I personally don't use one). You're probably getting bottlenecked by the VPN, because of all the encryption and decryption you have to do on either side.

Chances are you don't need the VPN so I'd just drop it entirely, at least to test the waters with your ISP. If you get C&D letters, then you'll know for sure, but it sounds like you haven't taken things that far and are just playing it safe (read: paranoid).

Whether it is safe to seed here or not depends on the laws governing the country where you live.

The answer is quite simple... a VPN is not intended to be used for such bandwidth intense purposes. You should be using a seedbox instead, which come with a VPN anyways.

What you would do is use your seedbox's VPN to download the *.torrent file then put that on your seedbox, then to get the file yourself you just SFTP it. You'd be 100% safe that way, and your seeding would be much better as well.

The answer is really even simpler; you generally don't need a VPN for BakaBT :) .  We don't catch a lot of heat from the MAFIAA here.

You'd be surprised, the Bleach torrents for example are under strict surveillance by the "Mafia".

Now compare that 1 torrent to the total number on BakaBT.
