Torrents constantly searching for peers
« on: February 08, 2013, 03:27:55 AM »
I recently moved, and I don't know if it is because that would have changed my IP or what, but whenever I attempt to download something it just stays saying Finding Peers in uTorrent. If anyone could help me figure this out it would be much appreciated.

Hi SydVicious,
To my understanding, changed IP or location makes no difference at all here.
Check the Trackers tab in uTorrent for your torrents to verify that it is updating the Tracker OK and showing seeds and peers.
Verify you have a green Checkmark in the lower right-corner of uTorrent to indicate incoming connections are probably working correctly.  Click that icon and perform the network test (you can uncheck the speed test) to clearly verify that incoming connections are working properly.

I suspect it is an issue of your router configuration for forwarding ports.  I would start with checking the things I just mentioned.  Read http://www.utorrent.com/help/faq/network.

Also note that the BakaBT tracker goes down for a bit every day I think, so if you only tried while the tracker was down (you'd see a problem indicated on the Trackers tab), you won't be able to initially connect to the swarm of peers until the tracker is back up.  (At the time of this posting the tracker is working fine.)

I used Vuze and it worked perfectly, it seems it was just an issue with the uTorrent client. Thanks a lot though :)
