Nexus 4 - Did you get it yet?
kitamesume:
so you're saying we should fall back to tiny 2" screens with a 70% buttons phone?
what you want, the ones with hinges or sliders, similar to a laptop, are quite expensive to manufacture. they can't use plastic hinges or sliders since those would snap like a toothpick, whats more is that they're expensive to produce and mount.
like i said, if they can find something more profitable, they'll jump into the bandwagon no questions asked. so why don't you submit a proposal for a change since you're all hyped with your innovations.

More than just slightly. It is a big fucking deal. And as South said, it's not a random button area. The button on the far right corner is my favorite button to show all active programs and it's as easy as sliding off the programs to the side to close them down or tap it to switch to it.

However what is notable in the design is how they package it all in shiny glass. I smell planned obsolescence from the first look at it. This is an attack of the general trend, not specifically aimed at nexus 4.

I liked the shiny glass but yes, it did scare me so I didn't use it as much for the first three days or so until I got my screen protector and back/side cover. I so love the slim design on this.
@ South - are you using a protective screen and a case? Back cover and Protection Screen I'm using. I ordered a different cover which wasn't as impressive as the first one.

actually, the whole mobile hotspot and tethering bullshit is US-only. Your carriers' doing.
In Canada we can tether freely years ago.
also, LOL @ iClone. as if it's the first slab-shaped touch screen phone.
The freedom offered by Android fundamentally differs it from iOS, it can look and work almost exactly like iOS or it can be completely different, it's all up to you. You don't have that choice with iOS.
@Tatsujin
I wouldn't use a film over the screen, the sensitivity is pretty bad as it is.

I tether freely with VZW. Of course, I rooted my phone and am grandfathered into unlimited data so... yeah. I get your point though. Depending on your carrier, you get hosed here compared to other countries.

Not this again ::)
That basic design you keep posting is just the structure that works for the modern day consumer smartphone. So what if the overall shape is the same? I guess every car is just a clone of the Model T? I can hold any of these phones in my hand and immediately tell the difference. That is before I even get past the lock screen and begin to fiddle with the numerous differences in software between the various incarnations of Android, IOS, and Windows Phone. Android is open source for crying out! We could have a whole new thread discussing the pros to the open source nature of Android.
To say the software is slightly different shows you really have no real experience using IOS and the various incarnations of Android. No offense Tiff, but you seem to have let your hate for Apple blind you. This isn't the first smartphone thread I have seen you derail with your "Psssh, it's just another iPhone clone" comment.
Didn't you say in a previous post that you don't even own a smartphone?
Southrop:
TOPIC. STAY ON IT. THIS IS NOT ANOTHER iPHONE VS REST DISCUSSION.
@Tatsujin:
I've been running a Rearth Ringke SLIM for Nexus 4 since I got it, which is almost 3 months ago now. The selection of cases back then wasn't so good, hence the plain choice lol. I have a full body skin from BSE underneath the slim case. Probably not necessary, but I got the skin before I got the case, and I just snapped the case on without bothering to take the skin off.

Sensitivity is great on mine even with a skin over the screen. Except right at the very left and right edge, but the screen is curved there, so no surprises.
