Live Actions: High school delinquents~
« on: February 22, 2013, 09:04:33 PM »
I've found a huge interest in high school themed live actions with delinquents and fights and/or creating bonds between teacher-student or student-student.
The ones I've watched so far is:
GTO
Gokusen
Crow Zero
Sugarless
Dragonzakura
My Boss My hero

Would appreciete if you know anything similar :)

Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason.

Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou also known as Cromartie High School. It's about a school of delinquents (comedy).

Hmm... Hope you're not limiting it to Japanese only. Then you'd be missing out on some great ones.....

I'd like to recommend Once upon a time in high school. A Korean movie with some bad-ass kick-ass fighting scenes, one really great romance and drama that will keep you satisfied if you give it a shot! This is delinquency at its best. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390205/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Another Korean delinquent movie you should watch is Gangster high: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0891562/?ref_=sr_1
This one might be somewhat brutal towards the end, but it got the message across and damn, this one was good!

As for Japanese delinquent movies, I'd recommend Young thugs; Innocent blood; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0142458/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1  and it's sequel Young thugs: Nostalgia: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0304296/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

There is also one that stuck on my mind for a really long time; Aoi Haru; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0309291/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

And yet another recommendation would be: Go ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_%282001_film%29 (would link imdb but it doesn't have any summary to go by, but this is one awesome movie)

Ping Pong ; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0328258/ And yes, the first part of the movie might not be the case, but the second part of this movie is why I am putting this down here.

I also had some other movies that I JUST LOVED, but my mind seems to have reached a halt so I will get back with a second list once I am able to (somewhat) think.... ^.^ Hope these will keep you satisfied till then.

Edit: Yup, they all keep coming back to me...

More korean goodness (which, if you are against, I really think you should give a try since they are THAT good)

Chingoo: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0281718/?ref_=sr_1 Four friends remembering their old days in high school when they ruled.... Ah memories of beating up other people, can it get better? ^.^

And Japanese:
Doroppu: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/drop_2009/ you want delinquent? You got it.. Based on the manga.

Swing girls: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0435434/ Just hope you don't mind that the delinquents are girls in this, because this one was great as well :)

The way to fight; http://www.nipponcinema.com/t/e/the-way-to-fight Long time since I watched this one, but it does bring back memories :)

There you go, all I can think of at this moment. There were some more that I had watched but my memory isn't at its best shape at the moment so you'll have to forgive me ^.^ Hopefully someone else can fill in some more and you have enough movies to watch for a lifetime!

Also, this is not what you would call a high school delinquent movie, but it really had an impact on me so I will put it down here and let you decide for yourself; but it's about a former high school delinquent that ended up in prison and just got released and is trying to live a normal life, but his reputation precedes him and a lot of people are making it hard for him; and its Korean so you give this one a chance, you hear me?: Sunflower http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0923714/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

You're welcome buddy! You know what they say; One delinquent movie a day keeps the Boogeyman away. <3

Oh, this is nothing like the delinquent movies, but you should also give Kokuhaku a try... Well, you can call them delinquents but this is more of a mothers revenge on them ^.^ Pretty enjoyable flick if you ask me. And this also has to do with the bonding of student/teacher in some freakish way (sort of) .... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1590089/?ref_=sr_1

And I forgot to put up my favorite movie.... However, this is not your typical movie. It does involve delinquents, but the protagonist is not one of them (but instead gets bullied by them), and the whole movie is kind of... well, not sure how to explain without spoiling but it made me buy the friggin' OST, and I never do that -.- So I'll put it here as well and you can watch the trailer and see if you'd like to watch it or not; All about Lily Chou-Chou; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0297721/?ref_=sr_1

Volcano High definitely fits the bill, you can think of it as a live action anime as the students have powers. You'll love it. Another Korean movie in the high school fight genre is Once Upon a Time in High School.

I'm guessing you already saw it, in case not, Battle Royale. Nuff said.

All About Lily Chou Chou is an incredible movie, one of my all time faves, but I wouldn't classify it as an action fight movie, same with Confessions.

Yeah. I know. That's why I explained beforehand and said "Oh, this is nothing like the delinquent movies" .

Besides, OP didn't really specify that he wished for "action fight movies", but only "delinquents and fights and/or creating bonds between teacher-student or student-student", in which, both those movies are valid recommendations :)

OnT: I'd suggest the Gachiban and Gachi Max movie series, but I myself haven't watched them (and am having trouble finding them) but here is a trailer to tease with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HOmxcVIebw (Gachi Max 2)

Also, it seems you can watch some of those movies directly on youtube, though they are divided in several parts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-ARZRI6I5c (Gachi Max)
But I'll let you handle the searching youself :P
