where to get Japanese Hip-Hop?
« on: March 02, 2013, 12:14:18 AM »
I love this shit but the Shout Cast station that used to play it went off line and I can't find anywhere else that plays it / I can download from.

I'm too newb at at this genre to really know the names of the artists I liked and dig around in specific searches, so all that I am coming up with is blog sites -talking- about Japanese Hip Hop and a few dead torrents scattered here and there, and I'm not paying $50 for a bootleg off Amazon that is probably just downloaded off the net itself: anyone know of a good place to download this type of music from?

I've never used the IRC stuff (too complicated in comparison to Torrents & direct links where you just click a button) but I'll learn if that's what it takes.

I get all my japanese hiphop by browsing through soundcloud, there is plenty of signed and unsigned japanese hiphop
just start with an atist and see wich people he is following and check them out too, that's how I discover new music

i'll give some starters
but it might not be your prefered kind of japanese hiphop ::

Only artist I know that fits is Yamaarashi. Sort of a Japanese Beastie Boys. Might be a link floating around, else look at JpopSuki which is a tracker for Asian musikz.

I mainly follow Ish-One and Grasshopper Set I have to use youtube since I was pruned a few years ago on JPopsuki. It's a good site but it's pretty annoying (like the people that run it) to get in and your ratio matters. >.> I would just ask someone you know that is a member to PM you about an invite.. gl

Ratio matters everywhere, and if it was a few years ago, the amount of BP you got for simply seeding was ridiculous. I think I worked out if you had 20 torrents seeding 24 hours a day, in a week you could buy another 70GB upload - enough for ~700 albums. Which is just plain silly.

I was only pruned due to inactivity. The >.> was to everything I listed, ratio was the least of the concerns. Moving on.

sadly, I'm kinda anti-social when it comes to this kinda stuff and can honestly say that I don't know anyone with a JpopSuki account; or at the least if someone I know does have one, I don't know that they do, but I can't think of any sites I that I hang out on where I could get away with tossing out a line to fish to see if anyone does ...

They do have open registrations occasionally, although it isn't often. A better approach would be if you got into about any bigger tracker and become a power user, which would give you access to nearly any other private tracker, including JpopSuki.

Becoming friends with people on forums works :]

If you're lucky you can find same stuff on jpddl.
Unfortunately, you'll likely need to know the titles of stuff.

I feel you man, I loved all of Nujabes music that jazzy/japanese/hip-hop really set the mood when I need to chill. I made a torrent composed of all his cd's and mix tapes if you need em. What I do suggest is probably the simplest thing is making a Pandora station of the people you know then search for there torrents. http://streema.com/radios/country/Japan might play some tracks you like or http://www.last.fm/listen/globaltags/japanese%20hip-hop let meknow if they help any.
