So I've been in the red status for a long time.
« on: March 02, 2013, 05:44:31 AM »
I have copies of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni I downloaded and I am trying to seed them on my laptop(the old one doesn't work but thankfully, I have the copies). I placed them where they should be but it just stays in 0% the force recheck option is not available. How the hell can I alleviate my status if I'm not allowed to seed it too?

BTW, the freeleeches like the Mirai Nikki OVA that I'm trying to download so I could seed does not download too. What gives?

I'm a little unclear... Are you trying to seed files on a different computer than you originally downloaded them on?

How the hell you got warned in the first place? You were told to read the Wiki when you created your account.
You cannot download new torrents until your warning is removed.
You have 27 torrents downloaded from BakaBT. Seed them until your ratio reaches 0.12-0.15. It is not THAT hard. You have to seed back only about 3 GB to get you warning status removed from you.
Have you used Relocate function before trying force recheck?

I am also finding it is not always that easy to seed. This community is almost too great. Apparently many torrent clients seed by need, and most bakabt torrents are well-seeded, so the torrent client will prioritise seeding torrents that have a poor ratio. For me, that means even though I place no limitations on my seeding, my stats are still poor. At least that's how the moderator for this site more or less explained it to me.

Meanwhile I am looking around for ways to improve my ratio/seeding. Like trying to force my torrent client to seed only bakabt torrents or something.

Does anyone know if it is possible to re-seed a file after it has been renamed? Probably not.....

One trick that may help the original poster is to set your save file location with your torrent client to the same place as the file that you want to seed, and then erase the corresponding torrent from your torrent client, then re-open the torrent file and it should re-check and seed.

If a client had that layer of indirection in its file management, I'd like to know about it.

In uTorrent you can seed renamed files by using Relocate + Force Recheck.

That is fantastic I will check that out now....

Edit: here is a link to an article that explains how to seed renamed or moved files

Higher ratios, here I come!

This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but I think this post should solve your reseeding issue.

By the way, you can't download anything at all while warned, including freeleech torrents. You also can't seed anything you partially downloaded, I believe.

Yeah I think that covers it more or less. Too bad I spent hours yesterday connecting files to seed but not soon enough. No matter what I do they I can't seem to seed more than 0.3 kb/s to bakabt torrents. And I blew my hard drive with most of what I downloaded on it. I will keep trying though....

If i may i'd like to add some questions, since they are related to this one, ill not make a new thread but ill use this if i may.

The thing is, im almost in ShadowZeon's situation, since i joined the community i only downloaded 4 series in 2 weeks, which left me with 0.001 ratio.
I've been seeding as much as i can so far, which is the correct thing to do. The problem is that there are so few leechers and so many seeders that it only seeds like 0.001(25Mbs?) per day, im currently at 0.022 because i left my computer turned on at night, but at this rate ill need to be 3 mounths seeding without downloading anything to get to 0.1 ratio <.< ...... this is just absurd right? am i missing something? shouldn't the site take in consideration the hours spent seeding something? -_-"

I've already spent more then 5x the time i spent on downloading\watching, on seeding all the torrents. It's not supposed to be my fault if there are no leechers compared to all the seeders.

In my opinion to avoid this kind of problem in the future, the series with a very high ratio of seeders\leechers should be freeleech.... my opinion tho.

If you see right the series i downloaded have:
               seeders\leechers
Seirei no moribito 104\13
Mononoke 95\6
Another 418\28
Cossette No Shouzou 71\42

As you can see doesnt matter how much i seed, for as long as i seed, ill never get to seed much bytes, my best luck will be with Cossette.

With this i can say bakaBT ratio system has flaws, and so i rest my case.

I'm having a similar problem, this being that I was unable to seed before, as I had very slow internet, and I know that's no excuse, but now that I actually have high speed internet, I have neither the torrents, the data, or the same computer.
How do I go about fixing my ratio?

A) i see no real reason to change filenames, seriously.

B) many torrents on bakabt CAN BE FOUND ON NYAA TORRENTS!!!! go get a few from there and seed them here. i do it all the time.

First off, a little news flash: You do NOT need to be logged in to download torrents from BakaBT.  BakaBT is a *public* tracker.  Your issues are, therefore, already moot.

Second, I download torrents only if they interest me (never solely for the purpose of driving ratio), yet I have a ratio of 2.424 (U: 4952.06 GB, D: 2042.69 GB).  I have a roughly 22 Mbit down, 4 Mbit up connection (limited to 220 KByte/s), which is as asymmetric as anyone else's on here.  So I know it's NOT impossible to get and keep a decent ratio. even if you don't use any particular methods to do so.

How do I do it?  Seeding a LOT of torrents, all the time.  Generally, out of my 179 torrents from BakaBT currently set to forced seeding in uTorrent, 25-35 will actually be active at any given time; I have *zero* difficulty maxing out whatever portion of my up pipe I care to allow.  If I bothered with any of the methods posted on this subforum to increase ratio, I'm sure mine would be even better.  So why don't YOU try some of them?

Read the FAQ, especially the part about how to fix your ratio when you are warned and have no data.

And by the way, you can easily get your torrents back. The only issue should be the data.

I am seeding ALL the torrents i downloaded so far, and i dont plan on deleting them.... even if it means my computer being full, and i do have a good internet.
Still, not enough leechers. By this way ill need 3 mounths of seeding to get to 0.1 -.-"

I'll just try donald1's suggestion.

It seems there is a divide between successful seeders and those who are not so good at it; I know I have scoured the forums and dedicated several hours to trying all the tips with the goal of giving back but not much luck so far. So I hear your pain....it has helped to use the relocate function on utorrent to seed the files that I renamed or downloaded from other sources. But I have pondered something similar to your query before. I guess in the end, if I don't like Bakabt, I don't have to use it.

Let me reiterate:

You do NOT need to be logged in to download torrents from BakaBT.  BakaBT is a *public* tracker.

If you find keeping a decent ratio on BakaBT is too onerous, for whatever reason, just use the tracker as a public user.  Ratios here are, frankly, just e-peen.  You'll still be contributing to the site, as a precious leecher to upload to.

That's awesome,  I didn't even think about the whole contributing as a leecher aspect.
Huh for some torrents I found on isohunt, I was forced to register with Bakabt in order to connect to any seeders. I could download the torrent files but no activity took place until I registered....is this an anomaly? Feel free to chastize me if this is a redundant or stupid question but how does your statement that Bakabt is a public tracker fit with the policy of being cut off from downloading if your ratios aren't good?

When you download a .torrent file, it has either your passkey OR a public passkey in addition to the torrent information itself.  Which version you get depends on whether you are logged in or not.  A public passkey only, however, lasts 1 month.

Beyond the 1 month limit, there is NO requirement to log in for a publicly-downloaded torrent.  None.  Public ratios are also not tracked, nor is it associated in any way with your BakaBT account.

It sounds to me like you downloaded an older public torrent from isoHunt, with an expired public key.  If that happens, just re-download the .torrent file from a BakaBT public session (rather than from isoHunt); the torrent will work just fine.
