If You Had To Choose Just One...

jaybug:
I'll go with a Ghibli film, Spirited Away.

It has many dichotomies. Traditional/ modern. Supernatural/ human. Fantasy/reality.

It is cute and charming, without being overly melodramatic, or sappy.

It shows us what happens when we do not take care of our planet. And why those old gods are not so bad to keep in mind when we do things today. And for me, it does so without being political. I do not think the difference between filthy and clean is not political.

It has a guy running the boilers! And I like how the old low technology works almost miraculously.

It makes me want to visit a place just like it, to have the same kind of good time that people used to have at one of those places.

JoonasTo:
Serial Experiments Lain

There's a drop of quality in the middle of the series but aside from episodes 5-8 the series is a pure 10.
Plus Boa in the intro, how awesome is that?

5Cats:
All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku

OVA, TV, even Dash!

Because! It's perfect in every way. And Nuku Nuku is adorable no matter how strangely they draw her... (Like in Dash! eh?)

Ballsor:
Code Geass - One of my favorites, could watch again and again. It has some of the best qualities in an anime and continues to be great through the story line, character building, music, ending and much more.

Probably Samurai Champloo. The music, the style, the feel, it was very well done. It had the right amount of serious shit and not-so-serious shit. It also was pretty self deprecating which I like.
