problems with avast and windows 8 seeding and downloading

(1/1)

nagisa aoi:
for some reason when I try to start a torrent with bit torrent and Utorrent (my main client is bittorrent) I have to stop the web and network shields in avast in order for it to work (otherwise it says the tracker is sending invalid data)
I don't know how much I am uploading of each torrent but it does not appear to be much (my upload is not restricted but I never see the bakabt torrents actually uploading anything unless I am downloading them once they are downloaded they stop uploading) but I still get the points for seeding bonus torrents (and a lot of them as well O.o) and my active torrents say I have a lot active and uploading

I am running windows 8 64 bit (I know its a mistake but its too much of a hastle to install windows 7 again because I need to back up half a TB of information)
my bittorent version is 7.7.3
and avast is at the latest version with the latest virus definitions
my internet is also very slow (usualy I get around 180 kbps download sometimes it can get to 250-260 upload can get up to about 80kbps - maximum I have seen)

anyone know how to fix this at all?

the most I have uploaded on a single torrent recently is apparently 28mb on yosuga no sora (and I am still downloading that one it is currently saying it is uploading at a rate of 1-3kbps)

Freedom Kira:
Update Avast again. From what I've seen on the forums, an update from Avast about a week ago resolved that particular error message for people using Avast on Windows 8. I think the others were using uTorrent, but I doubt that makes much of a difference.

Try disabling uTP to improve your speeds. Just a shot in the dark. If that doesn't help, try using uTorrent 1.8.5 and see what kinds of speeds you get.

you should also double check that your avast and windows firewalls have exceptions for your torrent client
