I just hope you are not the young lady who is being held hostage by a maniac who want to rape your mind in the game before raping your comatose body in the real world... Some people dismiss SAO as being childish and illogical, but some of the stuff that happen in that anime are fucked up if you think about it.

Lol. This sort of did happen after the game SAO ended, but yeah, that would be rather unfortunate if I ended up in Asuna's place. It is childish, but I have played a lot games, so initially that is my reasoning behind why I would want to be placed in such a "childish and illogical" world. I'm a bit fan of medieval history, not that I would want to be transported to the time of feudalism, but it fascinated me most of all the anime's I have watched. I enjoyed the setting of SAO despite the circumstances in which the characters ended up there.

I was also intrigued by SAO, and I think that its whimsical attitude at times was necessary  because otherwise the anime would become too dark. It was a good way to think about relationship, love, and life. People like to complain about the Romance in the anime, but for me there wasn't a more touching love story in Anime for some time : You might never really meet your love because you might die in this game, and when you get out she is still stuck inside, you cannot get her out, and then you discover that she being molested by a vilain and can't do anything about it.

If only half of that happened to me I would either break or go crazy of disgust with my life, if you really love someone and this happened to you it would break your spirit. But this being anime of course they had to throw in an Harem, but nothing is perfect  ;)

Since you like medieval settings why don't you go to Maou Mayou Yusha ? It is a medieval setting bit more historical than SOA because you are not dealing with NPCs and players but actual medieval folk, plus you also have the Demon Realms to explore and the Demon girls to meet ... Dragon Princess and her servants look like fine ladies to meet ;D

I just hope the biology is compatible enough and that there aren't tentacles involved  ::)

The content of this post is right 99.99% of the time, unless the matter was subjected to a Japanese mind.

Everybody seems to be quite wary of tentacles in whichever anime-verse they go to, haha. You know, since you mentioned medieval or the dark ages, Berserk comes to mind. It's a pretty scary world to go into, though, and could get ugly if you meet Trolls and you happen to be a woman. Nasty business, that is, nasty, nasty business.

This topic made me realize that i watch mostly realistic anime (or at least close to realistic). I think i'm not the only one who thought that if i was in a  universe with magic academies or classes/schools etc... i'd be a real nerd in magic and study my ass off.

Ohh man, this thread is hard for me, and even though i might get bashed for it, i'll say Naruto. Everyone has the potential to be a ninja, so at least i'd have a chance.

Magic Knight Rayearth was a CLAMP manga/anime from the early nineties about a magical alternate reality which manifests phenomenon based on people's intentions, wherein three Japanese schoolgirls have adventures of the high fantasy sort. It's not bad.

I remember seeing it, too, back then. Can't remember the names, but I know them by appearance. The Wanderers is also another good anime to go into, released at about the same time as Rayearth, I think.

Ghost in the shell.

I'd become part of the team. I'd probably be the funny, worthless, dipsomaniac. I'd blow some shit up before saying something really wise, become endearing to the crew, then go out with a bang as a martyr. We'd fuck shit up like bosses.
