Torrents stuck in the "active" tab
« on: March 13, 2013, 02:13:49 PM »
When I shut down my torrent client some torrents always still stay in the active tab although I'm not really seeding them anymore. I've recently got a whole lot of bonus points and I've not even been seeding much... could this have something to do with it?

If your client closes ungracefully, this can happen. And by the way, just closing the client window doesn't shut it down - you have to actually exit the program.

Clients can close ungracefully in a few ways. For example, if you kill it via task manager, power loss, force shut down, or if you have disabled the "close gracefully" setting if it exists.

Bonus points don't have anything to do with the cause, but the cause for both issues are somewhat related.

My uTorrent's graceful shutdown seems to be on and I close the program with File - Exit.

I don't really get what you mean here. But I shouldn't worry about getting more bonus points than I should? (I don't know if I actually do, can this actually cause it or not?).

So if this affects nothing but the listing in the profile then it's not an issue.

It's just a minor glitch.

If one of the torrents you have as perpetually active happens to be bonus, you'll get "dirty" bonus points from it. But no one really cares much about bonus points anyway, it's just the seeding of the torrents that are bonus that anyone gives a crap about.

Anyway, bonus points also randomly accumulate for everyone each day. There's some issue with the bonus point system, and it's been reported at least once already.

Ah, ok. Thanks.

edit. I googled the shutdown issue and remembered I had changed the "WaitToKillServiceTi meout" registry value from 20000 to 1000 (20s to 1s). I changed it back... seems to be working. Nah, it made no difference.

edit2. It clearly has something to do with uTorrent's queue feature. If I force start everything and then exit, every torrent updates.

edit3. Even that doesn't do the job every time... there's something more to it... whatever.

I'm also having trouble with this. Is there anyway to fix it?
