Thinking of buying a new comp with win 8 on it
AceHigh:
Uproar aside, I never used Vista, jumped from XP to Win7 with the main reason being new graphic card that supported DX11 (so I jumped over DX10 as well).
I am not going to be dramatic over new OS, I just don't see a reason to upgrade if I don't see exactly what part of OS I am upgrading. So why should I pay... wait, I mean waste my bandwith pirating an OS when it holds no advantages over an old one?
But yeah, I agree that fanboyism and hate for something so trivial is silly.

I see what you did there lol ;D
On my defense I did buy two new laptops and the price included the Windows OS ... so I did buy two copies of Windows (Vista and 7). I did got a non-exactly Gates friendly copy because for my Win7 system they refused to include an install CD and instead put in a recovery partition that I erased because it was more efficient for me to create my own backup partition with all my favorite software and drivers installed.
Part of the uproar from the non-paying customers generally appear when there is compatibility issues, but some part of it just M$ hate.

Windows 8 aside, I would rather spend an extra 400 dollars on a quality sager that actually has a grahpics card and has a 1080p screen, and comes with no OS on it stock so you can just install it yourself. Unless this computer is 100% office productivity only in which case I would recommend neither windows 7 or 8 and install linux because you won't be doing much modern gaming on it.

hey hey, on second thought you might wanna wait for the haswells, neat as they are on battery life (yes they're like freaking atoms on steroids) GT3 is amazing, inbetween A10 and A8 trinity performance :D
typical price points are said to be 400$-600$ for the i3 and i5, while i7 shouldn't be much over 700$.

I'm not sure about haswell mobiles but I was disappointed with haswell desktop processors. Higher power requirement than the ivy bridge with the same base clockspeed, and the only improvement is with IGP which is useless for me.
