I wouldn't say Saeki has had much development as such other then being portrayed as the "victim"
@MrIntruder: Development as in "revelation" eh? A lot of her "inner workings" were revealed and by golly they're not pretty! She makes excuses, she has self-delusions, she really IS "wetter than an otter's pocket". Oh wait, that's a good thing.
She
could be the victim here, but she's
still actively pursuing Kasuga, so that makes her a "party member". Loyalty? Jealousy? Fear? Anger? Lust? It's still unclear what her primary motivation(s) is.
This kid is just letting her fuck his life up and he doesn't do anything about it...
@Xycolian2332: Um, do what about what? THAT is the "contract" they made! It's an "S&M" thing and would take a VERY large amount of explaining. She's not "fucking up" his life! She's revealing the truth to him!
THAT is why he stays with Nakamura: she (appears to) KNOW the truth!
Think of it like this:
Saeki = physical
Nakamura = spiritual
Both are lovely in their own way! How can one "choose between" them? It's just about impossible. Hence episode 10...
@TMRNetShark: I totally agree that Baudelaire's poems are
critical to this show. Unfortunately they're also very difficult to understand...
(Unless, like me, you're already a deranged deviant... lolz!)
