For there to be a Cowboy Bebop sequal I would have to accept that Spike is still alive...Something I'm not sure I'm ready to do.

As for Trigun...I would like to see that. Sucks that Wolfwood(SP? I forget) would be gone but you still have knives who was just patched up and carried back with Vash.

That would be interesting.

the catholic imagery (purgatory is a catholic concept), the little story about the cat that wont die, the indian spiritual "guide", and in the movie they finally come out and say it at one point when vincent (that was his name right?) was explaining things to faye. in the fansub i saw he actually used the word purgatory (though i havent really checked to see if that was just a translation or the actual word he uses). there are a number of other little hints throughout the story line, including when julia meets him in the graveyard, when vicious had spike shot in the place with all the snow (man its been a long time since i watched bebop ; ), in the episode where spike killed the "kid" who was actually an old guy whose body never ages, and in general, it explains the reason why both spike and vicious were so bold throughout the series, doing as they pleased without the slightest fear of death. neither of them could "die" till they had taken care of buisness, and then they could only kill each other.

100% positive vincent and spike are, and fairly certain vicious is as well. Although there is far less evidence that vicious had died and is in purgatory, it would make more sense for the story.

purgatory is a catholic concept for people who die and are borderline between going to heaven and going to hell. its like a waiting period where you are given a second chance to prove yourself. sometimes that is translated as being sent back to earth and allowed to live again for a short while in order to correct your mistakes. for instance, spike and vicious wanted to kill each other and get it over early on, but inspite of devastating wounds could not. this is because spike still had to resolve his relationship with julia, which vicious realized and so he went after julia. in the end, both had resolved their buisness and only had to deal with one another (remember spike and vicious were the closest thing to friends that they had in their former lives). regardless of whom killed whom both would probably have vanished after that scene.

that aside, there is more than enough evidence to show that spike definitely died while trying to leave the mafia. julia found him and treated him as he was dying. they had planned to meet in the graveyard afterwards (death). after he returned, it took a long time for him to find julia again (if she had saved his life.... i doubt hed have trouble finding her). he keeps meeting up with the indian guide whom no one else ever seems to see, and who appears at important moments. he suffers serious wounds multiple times and recovers. the fact that vicious (spikes former partner who apparently was under spike, as spike would have been selected as the next leader) is after spike fairly early in the series, while the other members of the yakuza (including its leader) really don't care that spike got away. a lot of smaller hints in the series (which ive already listed). and if you were still unsure, the movie clarifies any doubts remaining. again spike surviving vincents attacks while everyone else dies, vincent's explanation to faye, and the little narration at the beginning and end of the movie.

sorry wayyy too much evidence for me to believe it was merely metaphoric. since i havent watched the series in years, i cant pull out all the details but if you watch it once youve realized all that, it will all click into place. the types of characters, the art style, the scenery, the music, the story lines, all of the major events in the story, the conclusion to each major part of the story, and many smaller hints. all of that just coincidence? i highly doubt it. spike and vincent I am certain, I'm only unsure of vicious, since you really dont see his perspective in the story much.

its not unusual for a story where "a lot of science comes into play" to use spiritual elements as well. it may not be based in religion but they may still want to play with individual concepts taken from religions (another big one is NGE, but there are many in anime and in other stories from around the world). there were other "spiritual" elements in the show, drawn from various philosophies.

Oh Lord no, never. I watched the whole damn thing, and the plot progressed about as much in the whole thing as it did in the first season. Sure small details are different, but Naraku's still alive and doing his lover-kill-lover shit (he gets a massive hard-on for that crap, he does it over and over), and Inuyasha's still a hillbilly git, he just can destroy most everything he comes across now.

If they do make some more, it'll go for another 3-4 seasons at least, so they can milk as much money out of the damn thing as they possibly can.

Aye, indeed. That would be sweet. I see no reason why this series couldn't have another season, as it didn't even actually have so strong continuing plot.

I just today finished Karekano, and like Stsin already said on the first page, it could use a sequel. Of course I know that's not gonna happen, but that series ended a bit prematurely, even in my opinion, and I'm not the staunchest supporter of sequels in general.

anime didnt follow manga at all.... anime past shishio was total crap.

however i highly doubt we will ever see the rest animated... due to legalities
