Golden week is a big holiday in Japan. Or more accurately, it's a whole bunch of holidays that are so close together you often only end up with a two-day work week, so everyone just takes the entire week off. This year it falls across a weekend though, annoyingly, so I only get three days off - this Tuesday, and Monday and Tuesday next week.
