As for BMI, BMI is actually a pretty good system to judge over 80% of the planets population by. Yes, the theory breaks to shit if you go for the extremes, but as long as you aren't a professional athlete or a couch potato. It works perfectly fine as a general measure of someone's health. Sure, measuring someone body fat is effective even for those extremes, but let's be honest. There's a bit of a difference of knowledge and the amount of labour needed to do that.
