Do people actually use that flitzamalakok scale or are you just spouting some trivia?

It is used mainly in skin cancer vulnerability assessments, which is pretty banal stuff because everyone is vulnerable, and everyone should protect themselves... It's just that type I is moreso then VI. Whilst I was spouting trivia, my dad confirms its use in the medicine(he does reconstructive surgery on cancer survivors, so perhaps not as good a source as a dermatologist, but still.)
There must a be a reason for tanking things. And all must be in certain balance.
But what that balance is, must depend only on you, nobody else.

Whenever this happens i just sit back and immerse myself in the popcorn. I think you all know what my stance is, the translation wars are another level of wha?
Did you know Satan was supposedly gods RIGHT HAND MAN, not his left. Blows your theory out of the water now doesn't it.

Here's something I don't get...

Who, in the right mind, thinks YELLOW (or other bright and/or neon colors) is a GOOD idea for their subs?

I've seen it a few times and the level of 'areyoufuckingkiddin gme' reaches into the nth level.

It's' also very common for subtitles in regular dvd movies which always baffled me.

Because we can!

Yellow was the standard color for subs back in the days, kiddo. You are late into the subbing game. Have some respect for your elders who went through great pain and effort to get it done (compared to now where it is comparatively easy to sub a show, but still a pain nonetheless).

Also if you don't like the colored subs, why not ask the subber nicely to change it rather than insulting/shouting at him. I am sure you will have better results. They are also built-in features in MPC and VLC alike where you can change color/font etc. And if they are hardsubs and not available from any other source, well, get a RAW and sub it yourself using those subs. :P

Of course, nowadays, you have the much better white subs.

Well, the sub yellow was/is fairly dark. Neon yellow... never stumbled upon it and I hope I never will.

I've seen it a few times and the level of 'areyoufuckingkiddin gme' reaches into the nth level.

It offers great contrast with the surrounding scene and is easily legible.

You can't, however, as an example watch something that's predominately dark toned like Blade runner or GiTS and enjoy the aesthetics of the scene with yellow subtitles, even if they are highly legible. It would end up ruining the atmosphere.

However, that's not always the case. I don't see it as being bad in something like a SoL anime or old anime altogether like LotGH, as the skin tones, uniforms etc... used to have far more yellow(gold) in paint than now in CG. So it didn't really distract from the general atmosphere that was present.

LOL WOW I AM SO FAIL!

I just accidentally skipped an entire season ahead on this show I'm watching and I'm just like "Wow, this season had a big time jump..."

It's only after being like half an hour into it that I realize that I'm supposed to be on season 3, not season 4...

/facepalm
/cries
>_<

I've seen this on STUDIO releases.

I have an original, import, of 'Vision of Escaflowne' (VHS) with 'official Subs'...and they're BRIGHT.

I'm so glad I never imported them all.
I'm fine with owning the (redone) DUB series on VHS and DVD.
