You could buy a smaller plane it'll still cost a good bit of money and not really be ideal for any kind of long distance travel, maybe a couple of hours of flight not really sure....

You can get them starting with around 50k$ if you aren't picky and don't mind an older one, and you can get 2008-2010 smaller machines between 100k-400k€ depending on what you'd like to be in it. Considering my likely income and expenses once I work it's in the realm of the possible, although I'd be fine with having a license, and then buying a 20k system for playing IL-2. Also small planes are perfect for travelling in europe^^ Thanks to WW2 we have dozens of small airfields everywhere  ;)

...you aren't considering the cost of fuel which is obscene.

there are two seaters that burn 2.4litres/100km/person, amounting to 4.8 litres per 100km@225 km/h. Now if you look at the distance you need to cover from Pécs to berlin, which is around 1300 km (by car) or about 1100km by plane, and assuming the average consumption of a car for two people+luggage is around 6-7/litres/100km you won't have that much of a difference, but you'd save about 12 hours of traveling. I'd say perfect!

You have to take into account all the different taxes, handling fees, landing fees, takeoff fees, and all the other costs involved though.

That said, I REALLY want to learn to fly a plane one day myself. Even if I could never afford to own one, you can hire them, and there are loads of airports and airfields near me with flying clubs, where you can just use their planes.

Or you could become an airline pilot, but that sounds like less fun.

Yay I'm studying medicine to end up as a pilot. I should start trying to get on this flight

Honestly though, I'd probably only go as far as getting the license. It's enough to know that I can fly (with a machine).

Completely forgot that I got a brand new RAPTOR WD 10K RPM 150GB ... no idea WTF to do with it. It's still sealed. I got it for free with 4TB WD Black. Might as well sell this shit ... I heard it makes loud noises and it's as fast as a Black Edition and it's freaking small ... but it's like 100 USD or so on Amazon. Oh hmm ........

300 USD to get the Raptor with it. Could have paid 280 USDish without it but for 20 USD more? Sure, why not.

Edit -- Oh fuck, I got an A in History? Something's wrong here ...

Something would be wrong if you didn't get an A in history. I mean it's not like you have to think, and it's not like anything's changing.

Isn't history like the only class where you actually have to learn stuff though.

If someone asks you when Britain and Russia made peace you're not going to be able to just use common sense to figure that out.

Because we can!

Agents of SHIELD is shaping up nicely.

It's just memorization. There's no problem solving or logic involved, that's what I'm saying. Even a complete idiot could get an A in history. Other subjects at least require some degree of intellect.

Wait your history is easy. We were asked to offer different hypothetical solutions to problems, analyze where mistakes were made and how they could've been avoided. (E.g. one such option would be the peace-treaty of versailles which can be said to be the strongest cause for WW2, by giving hitler a strong foothold to garner peoples interest). Then again history is considered a social science where I'm from

ANNNNDDDDDDD I am back!!!!! For 2 weeks!! (I am bunking one week of class, actually only 4 days, but then again M.Tech is like that. No fuck given). Though the amount of stuff to study is staggering. I have to finish twice the portion you have in a Bachelor's degree in less than three month. Yikes. It's kinda scary.

P.S: Also my last post before going was 2500th post. Nice number. I wanted to take a screenshot, but got over-excited seeing the Madrock Scramble request thread and did some post. :(

@Tiff: Seriously? I haven't seen an idiot score A in a history before. Promise. Sure, you only have to memorize stuff, but for engg. like me, we are used to solving crazy puzzles and brain-cracking stuff. Memorizing is a much more pain for me nowadays though.

Personally my brain is better at problem solving than memorization. I remember reading an article about the latest evolution of the human mind where the later generations show an increase of indexing memorization, rather than memorizing the information itself. Blame Google and Wikipedia, I guess.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

History is pointless. Maybe it was my teachers, idk. I think it would've been better if they incorporated more "ancient" scientific discoveries into the curriculum, and their implications on our society today. All that was discussed in my history classes was old politics, adventurers like Christopher Columbus, and wars. Fucking worthless and boring imo.
