Cooked food is easier to digest, thus we can allocate a far higher percentage of our energy and time to different regions of the body and different occupations. We as a species developed our abilities purely because our bodies don't have a need to maintain 4 stomaches and that we don't have to eat for roughly 12 hours a day just to provide ourselves with enough energy like cows do.
Sure, although I could see how this knowledge could be to do the exact opposite. Rawfoodists (as defined by those who eat more than 70% uncook food) are obviously not triving on their diet with 1/3 of their women not even getting enough energy from their diet to menstruate, but maybe moderately increasing the percentage of uncook food in their diet could help obese people lose the extra fat.
Well nothing new there. It means more fresh fruits and veggies.
Rawfoodists to me are simply a new species of annoying hipsters, that managed think up a new stupid way to justify their own self-righteousness. Just like any other group like this, it is to my greatest anguish that the current medical outlook requires at least attempting to save everyone, for I would love to see them leave the human gene pool. After all, they clearly know better than the medical establishment.
As to the second part. If you are overweight? Yes. That is probably one of the better ways to lose some extra weight without doing anything that could be classified as harmful to your body.
However, in practice, you're just stuffing it with "empty" stuff. The exact same result can be achieved by simply eating less. If you HAVE to eat, certainly, stuffing yourself with something like a cabbage that essentially has no nutritional value in it, will not make you gain any weight and it will make you feel full. Furthermore the whole "boiling" thing only really applies to really starchy sorts of food, like potatoes or beans, most of which you don't actually eat raw. You're not going to gain a lot of weight by eating boiled cabbages just as you aren't by eating raw cabbages.
Now then, I'm not saying that one shouldn't eat raw veggies. They have plenty of their own advantages without this, a good example is actually having the ability to take a dump. I'm just saying that choosing a diet that's 70% raw vegetables just because you can is stupid. Everything in moderation is key, with everything.
