Dubbed anime is fucking stupid, Tiff. But that's up to you and how you like to watch anime. Terrible voice acting or original voice acting.

In all fairness, the original Japanese voice acting is often pretty terrible too.

That said, many Japanese dubs do feature noticeably better acting than their English equivalents. And even when they don't, I just find the Japanese accent to be more pleasant to listen to. There's something really annoying about the American accents used in many anime dubs, especially when over-acted in the way anime so often is.

The only dub I've listened to which I've preferred to the Japanese original would be Steamboy. That was absolutely superb. The acting wasn't amazing (though it rarely is in anime, in either language), but the amount of attention they paid to making sure every character sounded exactly as they ought to really paid off. If only more anime dubbers put that much effort into it, they probably wouldn't be nearly as bad as they often are.

Ah nice, Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail is dubbed. I'll finally watch some anime after months of no anime. Looks like Hellsing Ultimate still hasn't gotten episodes 9 & 10 licensed by Funi, well alone dubbed... damn slackers. The last two Ikkitousen still haven't been dubbed and there's even another new one now...

Looks like Deadman Wonderland got dubbed too. I guess I may finally check that out.

Did anything good get dubbed recently?

I watched Roberta's Blood Trail. It was pretty good just like the rest of Black Lagoon. I dunno if it's going to help me get back into anime though.

I think we had our fair share in different similar topics located in Anime Discussion. Obviously there are some bad voice acting in Japanese, but as far as I'm concerned, I prefer Japanese over English when it comes to Anime or JRPG. They just know how to do voice acting properly.

Itsuka Hi no Ataru Basho de is a really good Japanese drama show. I'm on episode 4 but I put it on halt for now. Going to watch Flight. I heard it's good.

While stupider people have on average a higher rate of reproduction, it's nice to know there are some mechanisms out there that could go the other way. Does this count as an argument in favor of nuclear power?

Canaan got an english dub a few years ago, if you haven't seen, that rocks.
Jormungand is supposed to get an english dub in a couple of months time.

Haganai and High School DxD were dubbed to english also.

Dub is shit. I hate dubbed anime with passion.
The only anime which has a more or less good dub is Shaman King (well for me). Other than that, kill me, I won't watch dub anyway.

As a general rule though, productions are almost always better made in their original language. I also prefer to watch American movies in English than French, despite what my family might think.

But in case of anime, when you don't speak japanese, you lose in translation in subbing too so it doesn't really matter if they're dubbed or subbed to english.
The quality of said dubs and subs is another matter entirely. Would someone please kill gg subs already?

But, the quality of a soundtrack is not limited to the quality of the language being used. Japanese and American voice actors act very differently, and I often find that American voice actors sound like they are reading something more than the Japanese, and I find that this is a general tendency in non-original subs. Since they aren't involved in the original production of the work, they just don't put as much effort to make a quality product.

I also watch English movies with their original languages. Dubs are shit. That's the real fact. You are entitled to like or not like dubs.
