Freeleech, Adoption and Other
tyc:
I read http://wiki.bakabt.me/index.php/Freeleech and noticed it says:
"This behavior is controlled by the BakaBT tracker, this means as long as the torrent is flagged with [F], you can benefit from this feature during leeching even if you have downloaded the torrent file before it is flagged."
I am wondering if the reverse is true. If I download the torrent file while it is flagged with [F] could freeleech be turned off during the middle of my download and then suddenly the download would count?
Since it seems like it's huge files that get freeleech turned on, I am wondering if it is a gamble. Like say if there was an A-class torrent for a series that is 10GB marked with freeleech and a B-class that is 5GB not marked with freeleech. If I get the B, the most I will have to download is 5GB, which sucks because it is more than 0. But what if I am downloading A-class and I am only 1/4 of the way downloaded (2.5GB) and then suddenly freeleech ends and then I will have downloaded 7.5GB which is not freeleeched?
I guess I'm wondering when it is on if it stays freeleech until the end of the month or something to allow us to download it and stuff. I know our .torrent files need to get re-downloaded every month anyway (or at least unless you are a seeder, I think) but I am hoping that if we get something thinking it is freeleech that it remains like that until we got it.
Also is there a page we can visit to see what is freeleech? I found http://bakabt.me/adopt.php for stuff to adopt but when I tried typing in http://bakabt.me/freeleech.php I didn't get anything.
I figured out how to uncheck everything but bonus like http://bakabt.me/browse.php?only=0&bonus=1&reorder=1&q= to see bonus torrents but there isn't a freeleech button so maybe people just luckily come across those randomly?
That said, when I did that all these 'bonus' torrents show up as 'banned'. I am wondering if maybe someone could make an option to search for non-banned bonuses? Or set it so that banned torrents don't get tagged as bonus? Oddly even though banned it's still showing something like 3 seeders, weird since I thought the torrent got killed when it got licensed or something.

All 1080p torrents are freeleech torrents and I assume will continue to be forever, so if it is 1080p I don't think there will be any problems if you have it running or in your backlog for a month or two. There is also a way to search for freeleech torrents, just type in the 1080p tag and every 1080p torrent will be freeleech. If by chance it does turn off being freeleech, (which I highly doubt will happen), I assume it will count towards your total download amount. On the three years I've been using this site though, I've never heard of such a case. If you here just to leech all of the torrents though, I highly suggest that you at least try to seed half of what you download. It's just common courtesy. Freeleech is a privilege, and it'd be shame if people came here just to abuse that privilege.
The bonus torrents being banned thing has been discussed before, and I believe the site's staff are working on a way to fix it at the moment. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
xgraphy:
The only time an automatic freeleech is not freeleech is after a swap, it will take until the system does its next routine check (quite short) for it to be re-labelled freeleech again.
But that won't affect you unless you re-download the new torrent and start it straightaway ofc.
Freedom Kira:
And the only other time when you could possibly have a freeleech suddenly stop being freeleech is right at the end of the traditional annual site-wide freeleech period.
Also, the following five criteria will give you your freeleech torrents:
1. All 1080p torrents
2. All artbooks
3. All torrents under 100MB
4. All music videos (I believe)
5. Randomly selected torrents to be freeleech (very few; there was a blog post about this a while back but I don't think it's really an official criterion, because I think it was a result of Chiyachan's boredom).
Certain incomplete or ongoing music torrents are also freeleech, I believe. I've seen a couple. I'm not sure exactly why they're freeleech though.
Al_Sleeper:
Because they are swapped too often for their size.
