Asking for a newer version of an anime.
« on: May 13, 2013, 01:23:22 AM »
I looked over the wiki quickly and didn't see what I was looking for. And I posted something in forums before and got flamed for "Being and idiot and not finding it on the wiki" So i'm posting in help so that wont happen again.

I recently downloaded the anime Kaikan Phase but the subs and the quality really aren't that good. I was wondering where to post asking for a better version of it to be uploaded.

A better version of the series simply does not exist, therefore you'll get the same answer.

The best thing to do would be to:

1) Check AniDB to see if any other or better versions exist.

2) Post in the New Torrents Requests subforum and mention the specific group or files you're looking for, as well as why you believe that version to be better.

For Kaikan Phrase, I couldn't even find any VHS raws that could pave the way to a soft-subbed re-release, which would at least be a marginal improvement. As people on the torrent said, there doesn't seem to be a retail DVD release anywhere. Apparently shoujo/josei/bishounen shows tend to lag behind on release formats, as they didn't start getting Blu-Rays until late 2010/2011.

But in most cases, BBT already has the best releases available. If the show is old/obscure enough that no newer/better versions exist, you'll have to either (A) deal with the low quality, perhaps by finding a smaller screen (1024x768 or 800x600 can make 240p tolerable) , or (B) find something else to watch.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

Since you like the show so much, you could try subbing it yourself, if you know enough Japanese.

Or, you can assist someone else in re-subbing it, if you know anyone who can translate it.

If the show has subtitles in another language that you know (like Spanish, Italian, etc), you could sub from those, too.
