Patience... I don't feel like making the analogy with the market vendor. Someone please do it.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

There are 36 seeders, and only 2 leechers on the torrent. If we imagine that this torrent is a street, and all the seeders own a cake shop on this street. So that means there are 36 cake shops selling the exact same cakes, and only 2 people walking down the street wanting to buy one cake each. How likely would one of those 2 people buy a cake from your shop? The answer is not very likely. As such, it is best to seed a torrent that has a high number of leechers and lower number of seeders.

I think this should be made into another one of those auto-replace responses. Like, "!help analogy" or something would be great.

Well, everyone is being incredibly indirect here since this question is asked a billion times a week so you'll have to forgive their annoyed attitudes.

The way torrents work is that there are seeders and leechers. When you seed your ratio goes up, when you leech your ratio goes down. These aren't just arbitrary things that are a constant however. The seeders and leechers are directly equivilant to the people that have either downloaded and are distributing the files or the ones trying to grab them. If you aren't uploading (seeding) anything then chances are that nobody is trying to download (leech) anything.

In other words, downloading a torrent doesn't guarantee peerage. You'll just have to be patient and eventually someone will grab it and maybe you'll seed some. Though, we do tend to have plenty of seedboxes here so depending on your connection you may not get great peerage even when people do download.

What you ideally want are torrents with low seeder counts and high leecher counts. If you jump on those and have a fast connection then that means that you'll have lots and lots of uploading to go around to all the people trying to download whatever it happens to be.

New stuff tends to come up on the Browse page which is where you'd look for stuff with low seeds and high leechers, and if you want to prepare for that stuff beforehand then check out the Offers section and the things likely to be accepted then grab those beforehand from elsewhere (make sure they're the same exact files) and that way you can hop on when there's just one seed and a ton of leechers, or some arbitrarily good ratio of seeders to leechers. I never bothered with all that to be honest, too much work. I just checked browse every now and then and hopped on stuff severely in need of seeding. That and well, just using the site normally.

Download something, leave it seeding forever. Keep downloading and seeding stuff and things will work themselves out eventually. For starters, I'd seed those 4 torrents that you grabbed and aren't seeding. The more you're torrents seeding the better. You'll find some peerage that way.

There are some other things you can do, but honestly right now you just need to focus on the basics. Download something then leave it alone and let it seed. That's pretty much the jist of it.

Have you noticed he is warned?
With just 43 MB seeded over a year he has a LONG way to go to get the warning lifted.
