Uhh... barring the type mentioned, I started in around 2009 I guess. So, 4 years younger than I am now which shall remain a mystery.  ;)

apart from digimon, yugioh, dbz, pokémon and avatar (I only watched the last two) there never has been anime on tv here, so didn't really know about its existence.
The first real anime I watched, was Code Geass and that was about 2 years ago.
Now that I think about it, I did see some ghibli movies before that.
