If i were him, I'd just make a small truecrypt container and put my txt messages in there, then send it off as an attachment. or something.

Not really. you could just copy the container as many times as you want and stick new messages in there, that way you won't have to go through the creation process for every email.

He could create separate containers with different keys/passwords for every contact he corresponds with.

How do you give the contact the password?
