Live Action films that you'd like to become anime!
« on: June 18, 2013, 12:07:03 PM »
I don't think therte is such a topic here, is there?
I was thinking, that i would love some films to become anime.

I love Terrence Mallick films, so, as my username says, i would love "The Thin Red line", or "The Tree of Life" to become anime films, in the style of Ghibli studio or Makoto Shinkai films.
These films are based a lot on aesthetics and marvellous sceneries and photography, so i think they would offer great opportunity for anime to be very impressive.
And since I also love drama, poetic and realistic films, this would be my ideal choice.

Alien and Aliens - Ripley would be boss!
Enemy at the Gates
Gladiator
Leon the Professional
Outlander
Predator
Rambo First Blood

All those I can imagine some really great anime action going on but I guess in someway, they may be "too western" for anime adaptation.

Any anime based off Bill Murray movies have the potential to be amazing.

These come to mind.  I think some of these franchises might have new life if they were given an anime makeover.

Robocop
Dagon
The Thing
Highlander
Mimic
Equilibrium

It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

Dark Angel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Let The Right One In
Night Watch
I Spit On Your Grave
American Psycho
The Darkest Hour
Immortel

I wouldn't say I'd want them to be animes but I think they'd make decent ones.

Pearl Harbour

I admit I am curious to see what kind of perspective the Japanese would put on this one.

The Hangover
Wedding Crashers
American Pie

Would be really weird and interesting to see how a Japanese animation would portray the American college culture and/or other things that are endemic to America.

More serious choices:

Inception
Primer
Source Code
Oh and I'll second The Matrix

None.

Acting is what makes or breaks movies. No matter how impressive the technical specs, anime can't replicate human acting skills.
There's no one in the world I'm interested in surpassing, excepted for myself.

Pearl Harbour

I admit I am curious to see what kind of perspective the Japanese would put on this one.

I was thinking that as well. I mean, Bay's version is full of Micheal Bay-level awfulness, and I believe it deserves better than that. There are writers, directors, and artists in the anime industry who can do a more considerate job. I would even prefer it animated given that it's a period piece and they can easily reproduce the likenesses of actual participants, and clearly CGI wasn't capable of depicting the attack very well.

The Hangover
Wedding Crashers
American Pie

Would be really weird and interesting to see how a Japanese animation would portray the American college culture and/or other things that are endemic to America.

Godzilla, I hate frat humour so very much. I'm glad that whole phase seems to be ending.
