Identification of Sci Fi based anime
« on: June 22, 2013, 01:11:46 AM »
So i've been going through my "blast from my past" wishlist, and i've tracked down almost everything i can remember.

When I was first introduced to Anime back in the late 80's/early 90's i was totally thrilled.

However i was not forward looking enough to track everything I'd seen :D

One of the final things I'm still trying to locate..  I can't remember a lot about it and I've tried a few anime search engines and google etc, but nothing is coming up using any of the terms i try mixing and matching.  Anyhow all I can clearly remember is the following:

There was a group of people (most or all were human) either crashed or landed with no fuel on a forested planet.  They either found a wrecked spacecraft or were intentionally there to salvage it.  And there were these mines/bots/somethings that would fly in swarms and home in on sound.

It was either on VHS or Laserdisc, and *might* have been a single episode of a series, but I honestly can't recall anything else about it.

This is a last ditch attempt to locate.  If anyone can help, great.  if not, at least I tried  :'(

That sounds exactly like one of the episodes of Star Trek: TNG. Also sounds like it could be an episode from Galaxy Express 999.

the TNG reference is intriguing, makes me want to track that down next :)

I've been reading through the descriptions for Galaxy Express 999 and it sounds like it's possible it could be an episode but i'd have to look for an episode guide.  *loads up the search cannon*

I hadn't even heard of that one, didn't ring a bell but who knows!

**edit**

Nope, not it.  The one I'm remembering was a lot more Macross-ish in the animation style.

Maybe Captain Future (AniDB) and Captain Future (MAL)(last one for a better picture)? I think in one of the episodes, that there was some plot going on, similiar to what you described.
