Author Topic: Have been warned, very confused of how to seed. (Read 2350 times)

I've read the FAQ and the wiki several times and I still don't understand. I would say I am new to these kind of things and that made me not notice that there was a download limit and I have to upload. So now I notice, but still very confused as to how to seed to bakabt to increase my upload. I can't download raw files directly from bakabt to seed, warned -_-

I'm using Tixati, kinda inexperience with the all seeding etc things. Also ports are configured right and open.
My case:

I go to a source file not from bakabt, I download that source file completely. Inside is TTTT_anime 1, TTTT_anime 2 etc
I download a bakabt source file and of course I can't download, I only download the Names e.g XXXX_anime 1 , xxxx_anime 2 etc

So I look at the bakabt source file, and go back to my other source file and rename it accordingly.
Then I create a torrent using that source file with the renamed episodes accordingly and I add the tracker from the bakabt source file.

results: Tracker fail: unregistered torrent etc

Other case I tried but failed: I downloaded a series completely identical to the bakabt source file. Names are different, so I rename so it matches the bakabt file episodes. (same as in 1st case) This time I deleted the bakabt episodes in the file, and replace them from my completely downloaded source. Name of folder not change obviously. So I click on the baka BT torrent, all succesful 100% it says.

Problem: It doesn't seed, I thought it would seed but it does not so again no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Seeding only one torrent won't get you far.
Seeding zero torrents is even worse.

Use the second method, and seed at least 10-20 torrents.

My problem is even getting seeding started in first place. That's why I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong.
What I'm doing is essentially finding other sources that match the selected bakabt file, downloading that other sources completely and trying to seed that source to bakabt.

What do you mean by that? Sorry, I have never used Tixati, therefore I cannot provide any specific help for this client. However, judging by your description, you did not make any mistakes when you used the second method.

Another question comes up, the second and first method requires me to download the other source file completely which takes up a lot of time, another reason why I feel having more seeds is very difficult/time consuming.

Judging from the picture, everything is fine.
There is one small problem though: you cannot seed anything if there isn't anybody to seed to. In your case, the torrent has only one leecher and 11 seeders. Your chances to connect to that leecher and seed something are pretty low. That's why I said you have to seed at least 10-20 torrents to improve your chances to seed anything.

Edit: Now you are listed as one of the seeders for that torrent. Your client is working properly, and the second method works fine.
Just follow my advice, and get more torrents to seed.

It's all a numbers game.

As a rough estimate, you'll need at least 20 torrents set to seed to get much of any traffic at any given time. As an example, I currently have 234 torrents (check my profile yourself, if you care to) seeding on BakaBT, out of which only 13 are seeding at the moment. This is a little low; on average, I usually see roughly 10-15% of my torrents seeding.

You don't necessarily need as many, but if you take 10% of the number of your torrents and get <1, there's your problem.

Thanks for all help, I am seeding now. I improved a lot from where I was previously.
evaluation will be in 6 days, at the moment 0.088.

It'll probably pass you from warned status. It's probably best if you just leave it seeding and not look at it for a week or so.

My seed is now 0.367, but still warned. It keeps reverting to 40-60 mins wait. How many more to go?

What really? Just checked faq and wow yeah I am very able to get power user. Also I'm happy, one week ago I was in a ditch with like very low ratio and can't download on bakabt to fix it, now I'm out of it and improved a lot.

Actually, it is not too difficult to keep reasonable ratio on BakaBT if you can abstain from downloading sprees.

Even then, honestly, it's not too difficult, once you have a "pad" of ratio to fall back on. Frankly, I download whatever interests me, as soon as I see it; the only reason I don't engage in huge "sprees" any more is that I've pretty much already grabbed every older item I even marginally want to see ^^' .

Hi,

I'm going through the same issues as seoko but I'm still at the "getting the seeding started" point. I am using uTorrent 3.2.3 and I seem to load the torrent into the client fine, but I cant seem to get the tracker to work. I keep getting this message next to it under "Trackers/Status: Failure: Unregistered torrent.The torrent may have been swapped or removed. check the site." I have no idea how to fix this and I have read the Wiki and FAQ and cant find any answers to my specific problem. I don't believe it's a file name issue but then again I'm not confident that I know how to check...
I have made sure that my tracker is correct since I have 2 torrents that are seeding just fine. I want to also mention that the ones seeding fine are torrents I never removed from my client after DLing from BakaBT and the ones that aren't working are the ones I try to re-seed(DL'ed from BakaBT too), which I'm having a heck of a time doing since my version of uTorrent isn't the same as the pictures listed in the FAQ.

Please help!

If you just added BakaBT tracker into torrents downloaded from Nyaa, it will not work.

Some users recommend using uTorrent v.2.2.1 or v.1.8.5 because v.3+ have rather poor seeding performance.
