Clarification on Manga Before I Offer
« on: July 01, 2013, 12:27:30 PM »
Okay, so reading through the Guide to Uploading Manga, I've become confused on what "official files" mean. I have a torrent of Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, and all of the files are correct and sorted nicely, but the thing is, the manga took over 10 years to complete and had numerous long hiatuses, so there were MULTIPLE groups tackling this one, and most of the earlier ones are long disappeared. My question is, how do I know I have the Official Files of the earlier groups? I know for a fact the last ones are official but the others were found in different areas over the years and none of their websites are up anymore.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

If there is no simple way to check it, and there are no other sources, you can safely ignore 'official files' rule.
Just don't alter them yourself without a good reason.

Thank you for the fast reply!
The only thing I did myself was compress the last volume together instead of having it be the only 3 chapters not in a tankouban (each volume contains 3 chapters) is that acceptable? I can switch it back to the individual chapters if that is the preferred way, I want to make sure everything's right before I offer lol ^_^;

It is acceptable, but undesirable.

I wouldn't combine them if they're official files with consistent naming.

It's generally not a good idea to zip files up yourself. The reason is simply reseeding. Since your zip file is not officially released by any group, and zip files' contents change depending on the computer and software used, the only way one can obtain the file is by downloading it from BakaBT. This means you are preventing people from retrieving the files elsewhere to seed on BakaBT, and you are opening up the possibility that the torrent will die one day simply because there is no other source for the files in the torrent.
