In the future, anime shows will have lenght in negative values, so you will actually gain time (immortality, yay!), instead of wasting it ;)

2 minute long anime? Are you sure you didn't download openings&endings?
[18:20:14] <+kurandoinu> How surprising. A conversation with gits turned to physics. That never ever happens.

A better question is which do we prefer.

13 or 24 episodes per season? Personally, it all comes down to how much I like an anime. For Devil Survivor 2 The Animation and Hataraku no Maou-Sama I was barely able to finish its 13-episode run, and with Gargantia I wouldn't have minded it being 24 episodes. Also, time is a factor. A lot easier to dedicate 5,5 hours than 10,5 hours. Especially since most people can marathon those 5,5 hours while you usually don't marathon 10,5 hours of anime in one go.

I'd like a 10 episode series with 50 minutes or so. Kinda like one hour movies. Some series deserves more time while others need to be cut down.

Aiura: 4 min/ep
Ishida to Asakura 2 min/ep
Kaitou Reinya: 3 and a half min/ep
Yama no Susume: 3-5 min/ep
Cyclops Shoujo Saipuu: 2 min/ep

and the list goes on  ;)

Aiura isn't an 'anime'! It's a 'mood'  :D

You have to watch the whole series just to understand the last episode. It's like Zen! Or hypnosis! Or heroine (the drug I mean) or S&M... You can't describe it, it needs to be experienced. It's one of the nicest shows I've ever seen. Sure there's "better" (duh!) but really? I liked it a lot.

A LOT of recent series have plodded along for their duration, then... POW! ZOWIE! WHAM-BAM! The HUGE finale ending!
Gasp! Gasp! Was it good for you too?

I ain't complaining, just observing...

I actually think that 2-minute slice of life animes are great.

I only really care when they've got a fairly hefty manga and cut it down to one arc, and that's it.

Code Breaker, which isn't my favourite fictional work by any stretch, isn't worth watching for only 13 episodes. The manga is over a hundred chapters and several story arcs, 13 episodes is barely an introduction essentially.

Or for a LN example, Legend of Legendary Heroes. All this world building, character development, and basic epic-ness was never going to fit into 24 episodes and the anime knew it but royally screwed over the invested viewer.

So, 13-24 episodes? Fine. Write original content to fit the time allotted or commit to the time needed to adapt your source material.

Chitose Get You! had 26 episodes, despite it being a 3-minute show. May be the exception to the rule, but still, it's there.

I don't really mind short series, but they have to be entertaining, and not all of them are.

Mangirl! sucked, but Aiura and especially Yama no Susume were quite enjoyable.

Yama no susume, and especially Aiura, were both shows that I feel deserved to have full-length anime, not just a few tiny little shorts. I really hope they both get one someday.

Actually, I swear I read somewhere that Yama no Susume was going to have a full series made or something. Or did I just imagine that?
