Two completely different things
« on: July 10, 2013, 12:30:03 PM »
Looking for a more adult-orientated anime, where the characters just don't give a fuck and there's no ridiculous censorship or anything that would be censored in a more kiddy orientated anime.
E.g, Redline, School days, Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin (so realistic that they even have a warning at the start of every episode saying that there will be content to properly depict that certain era).

Also looking for a romance anime with the main heroine being a 250% airhead, but at the same time a genius who is both kawaii and hot as fuck - Shiina Mashiro. Preferably if she is also dependent on the guy... She's like perfect. Any guy's wet dream.

Alrighty, I'll check those two out. Still open to more recommendations, preferably more modern anime.

Just straight up don't watch the last episode regardless of what anyone else tells you.

After hearing that I think I'm going to watch the last episode first...

You shouldn't watch it at all... it will ruin the entire series for you. It isn't even like it's the series. It's like a 20 year time jump and totally fucks the entire story and will ruin the series. Don't do that.

It was like they didn't have a good stopping point so they made the last episode a massive time skip and it's horrible. Trust me, you don't want to see it. You especially don't want to see it before you watch the series.

Mnemosyne really is like one of the top 5 animes out there. Baccano is pretty decent too along those lines.

Ghost in the Shell might be one you'd like as well.

You could try Claymore (amazing) and Berserk as well.

Definitely +1 for Mnemosyne and Texhnolyze.

Mature stuff:
Speed Grapher
Basilisk
Berserk (Old school, but still stands the test of time)
Blue Gender

Yeah I have Claymore but I haven't started it... I think I'll start with it and put Planetes on hold.

I'll take a proper look at Mnemosyne and Texhnolyze and have a glance at everything else recommended. Cheers everyone

Claymore (could have been amazing)

Fixed the typo, definitely not worth putting Planetes on hold. Claymore threw away a good premise and some interesting ideas, only to turn into trivial power-up shonen drivel.

Rainbow has been animated?

BY MADHOUSE NO LESS?

Because we can!

Gotta disagree with you there. The manga is better and it's one of the few I've actually read the manga for, but it's by no means unworthy. It's still #1 in my top 5.

No need to rush, I'll definitely watch both Planetes and Claymore. Right now though, I think that Claymore is more appealing to me... By episode 2 of Planetes, I'm already infuriated by that stupid bitch's idealistic views. Anyways, from the many years I've been lurking on these forums, I've concluded that Tiffanys is an impossible person to impress and if Claymore is one of her top animes, then I just have to check it out. :D

She'll get better. That annoying shit was mostly absent from the original manga.

Despite a couple of mediocre arcs in the middle and a gecko ending, Claymore is quite good.

The manga being better or not is irrelevant to me when it comes to rating anime. I based my appreciation on what the anime could've been, and what it ended up being. By no means bad, but a far cry from the promises the early episodes made. It was one the first handful of series I watched in early 2008 when I came back to anime. Once I'd watched more stuff I came to realize I'd been way too lenient at the time and I downrated it from 8 to 5.
