Martial Arts on a more serious or "correct" tone

MrIntruder:
Well going through ani-db isn't proving all to easy to narrow down anime series/films that focus on real human ability with regards to martial arts...

What I'm looking for is preferably series that focus on people training and using martial arts but keep things in a real perspective. What I mean by that is I don't want to watch series that show "super power" or any kind of absurd fantasy.

The story doesn't have to be anything particular though, it could be a drama or comedy but I'd like to see something that shows both human strength and weakness.

The only thing though that I would say that I don't want to have a bearing on this is anything sport related, so Hajime no Ippo is ruled out.

The main reason I'm looking for something like this is partly due to my own training, so I'm curious to see if there has been a series made or not.

I recently watched the anime documentry on Musashi Miyamoto after reading The Book of Five Rings (quite interesting looking at a Japanese perspective of the man rather then the western translation done by Thomas Cleary and also noting on how wrong some of the Japanese understanding of Western culture is too heh).

I know this might be fairly difficult but I would appreciate any reasoning for any suggestions made please (rather then stating just an anime title).

To summarise I'm looking around these keywords: -

* Martial Arts
* Drama
* Accurate
* Human Strengths and Weaknesses
I don't think my watched list isn't really gonna be too helpful in since this is something rather specific I'm looking for rather then something akin to what I have watched but feel free to look anyway to see if there's anything I should watch anyway regardless of my request.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Al_Sleeper:
If your definition of martial arts includes traditional Japanese sword fighting techniques, check Tsukikage Ran. Its MC's fighting style is more or less realistic.
Another possible suggestions in the same line are Bamboo Blade and maybe Shigurui and Yawara.
Spear fighting techniques - Seirei no Moribito
Tonfa fighting techniques - Avenger

Generally speaking, your chances to find totally realistic portrayal of martial arts in anime are pretty low :(.

Aye I know what you mean, it's been fairly difficult so far looking around, I've seen a fair few sports based series but when you look at combat sports, there is no real fighting going on and people intentionally fight poorly or rather, inefficiently in order to score a point, I do imagine though that there would be some hidden gems about.

It does surprise me however that one of the biggest "exports" of Japanese culture doesn't have the same in Japanese anime.

I'll check out the suggestions Al anyway, Avenger sounds promising as I have been doing training with Tonfa - really fun and energetic weapons to use with so much utility too.
