Why is Doraemon Completely Unknown in the USA?

Were any of its TV series and movies ever officially released in the USA?  It seems a bit strange that given its worldwide popularity, it's almost completely unknown here.

Worldwide popularity doesn't mean it's gonna be popular in the USA. A lot of series are like this.

I understand that, but it's still amazing no US distributor ever picked it up.  It's really funny, especially all the disasters that befall Nobita.   ;D

It's not really amazing or even a surprise no one picked it up. One it's an older anime and two it's overly too cartoonish. Granted they've picked up these types of series before, but if there isn't really a demand for it they don't bother. Makes perfect sense.
