Can't correct aspect ratio in MPC

I'm trying to watch anime in widescreen/16:9 (bars on top and bottom). I tried going into the "video frame"  settings to change the aspect ratio but it just stayed the same so I just gave up and downloaded VLC. It worked but the aspect ratio setting is 2.21:1 which is weird. When I went into the settings to default it it had an option to force aspect ratio on all files but when I input "2.21:1" it stayed the same but when I manually go to the top bar into "video" ---> "aspect ratio" --->"2.21:1" it plays which pisses me off. I don't want to do this every single time I switch videos. Is there a way I can default the aspect ratio I want on either player?

I'm not sure about MPC, but you can do it in Zoom Player.
