I thought it was a good first episode. No offense but constant build ups especially for lackluster fighters is unnecessary IMO. The backstory around his dad wasn't necessary but it wasnt a bad addition.

I have been waiting for this for so long. I can't wait to see some of the matches they have now  . I have been addicted to this since it first came out. I have all the DVDS and plan on getting these when they come out.

Bah, the first episode was great. It was very nice that they showed us Ippo's past. I'm glad this didn't turn out to be one of those shows where the father has mysteriously disappeared or died without an explanation. This will be a good season, need to rewatch Ippo for the 4th time to get the feel again.

If there is one thing missing, it's a decent soundtrack. Then of course, an episode later and tumbling dice kicks in. Still it feels very wrong to have opera in my Hajime no Ippo. And this new soundtrack needs to be able to stand on its own. Not sure if the NC OST was better.

The fight between Imae and Aoki managed to entertain me well, I'm happy Aoki is still part of the story. We need his matches.
