Anime Subtitles Fix!?
« on: July 20, 2013, 01:08:51 AM »
I've recently finished downloading an anime ( not from Here) and noticed that one of the episodes, the english subtitles 11 seconds faster than the anime...

Is there a way to fix this?

Unless they are hardsubbed, the answer is 'Yes'.

http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/downloads.html

Remux the file using delay function for the English subs (it's on 'Format specific options' tab).

If you download mkvmerge GUI (a free program), you can fix it very easily, as it has an option to delay subtitles.
I am a computer idiot myself - as embarrassing as it is to admit - but even I can operate that program.
Here is the link for the program http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MKVtoolnix
Good luck!

Do you mean you don't know how to use MKVmerge, or that your player cannot open files modified by MKVmerge?
If the former is true, upload your video file e.g. here: http://www.filedropper.com/
and post the link to it in this thread.

If you see only two streams, video and audio, you are probably right. In this case you cannot fix its subs, and your only option is to find some other release for this episode.

Most of the releases for that show look hardsubbed to me. Unless you have AniMecha's incomplete release. Or you're talking about the OVA.

The main Kodocha release out there is the no-group HKDVD-rip with external .srt subs, which was on this site until the Funi C&D. It wouldn't surprise me if the subtitle timing were so drastically off in one episode.

One "ghetto" solution in MPC would be to hold down F2 for awhile to increase the subtitle delay. If you take it up to 11000 ms, it should solve the "11 seconds faster" problem.

Got any old fansubs on HDD/DVD/CD? Please take a look at this thread.

That *may* work, but be aware that most media players get a little wonky when you increase sub and/or audio delay too far.
