'Finding Peers'
« on: July 28, 2013, 01:01:28 AM »
Trying to Download the 1080p Clannad torrent. It just sits on 'finding peers'

It happens with everything.. All of my ports are open and I am logged in. Why can't I download anything?
I haven't had this problem before on this computer or network. I downloaded stuff last week. Why is it happening now...?

Any ideas?

Downgrade your uTorrent.

Downgraded to 1.8.2 but apparently BakaBT doesn't allow that version of the client.

Seriously no offence but I'm getting a bit pissed off.. what version should I use and why is it not working any more? Everything was fine before, no update has been done in weeks and suddenly 155 torrents I was seeding are no longer seeding and 3 I want to download are no longer downloading...

Have you tried switching to another torrent client?

It's cool. Downgraded even further.. to 1.6.1 (last release before BitTorrent inc. started messing with uTorrent) seems to download fine now.
1.8.2 wouldn't work. Not sure if 1.6.1 supports magnets.. it better -.- I'll be really irritated if I have to play around with clients because BakaBT decided to blacklist future versions of uTorrent.

I know uTorrent sucks these days but torrenting in my country is legal so I don't care who watches me, and I use peerguardian/peerblock etc anyway. Plus BakaBT is for the most-part a private tracker.

Thanks anyway guys.

Check v.1.8.5 and v.2.2.1.

Erm.. lol. You could always check the whitelist. 1.8.5 is only for Mac, so it won't work with Windows. There are a number of uTorrent builds still left to choose from. As for the latest ones, we whitelist only stable builds[for good reason]. Get the latest stable, and disable automatic updating, and it should be ok..

1.8.5 is NOT only for Mac. The latest stable builds of uTorrent (v.3.3+) are the main source of 'Finding Peers' problem.

Yeah, my bad, meant 1.8.1, since that was what the OP had tried
