[Recommendations] heartbreaking / sad / cry anime or manga

welp, found other manga that can fill my free time with comedy, slice of life, romance, heartbreaking moment...

EDIT : just finished Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa, minus point is chapter length...that feel when the affection is lost when the curse broke...

and im started into LN as well (first title Yahari Ore - the Hikigaya Hachiman)...and looking for more manga (my bookmark is full meh who cares)

The ending of Aria made me sadder 5cm/ second and Clannad combined. That being said, I would offer up.

Could have meant Binbou Shimai Monogatari. I guess there's some sad parts in Binbougami ga! but not really a sad show all around.

Hmm... valkyria chronicles may not be sad as a series, but it has some very sad moments. But I guess it's military, so it's won't work.

I don't think I've seen shinsekai yori in this thread yet.

Guilty crown has a sad, but an extremely well rounded ending.

Also I personally think of the SAO volume: Mother's rosario as sad/heartbreaking

I don't think blood-c has been listed either.

No.6 is another anime on the darker side.

I also remember Red Garden to be sad (Don't know for sure through, it's been 4 years)

Then there's Venus versus Virus, which i seem to distinctly remember as sad (no guarantee there though, it should mostly be a happy series until close to the end)

Yes it is a very good comedy, but I really liked how it pulled really emotional scenes.  Did you really not feel sad when Ichiko (the main character) let go of her butler for her butler's sake? Even though that was the one person she admitted cared about and how she knew how much she relied on him? How about when Ichiko celebrates her birthday by herself. Sure she had a  big expensive birthday cake but she was lonely and had no one to share it with. Or how about the time she threw money at the poor Tswabaki family/ and looked down on them and made fun of how they lived even though she had a crush on him. Then suddenly her crush throws the money back because of his pride even though the money would help a lot even though he was managing multiple jobs. Perhaps my favorite emotional moment was when the Tswabaki family JUST THINKS about their older brother abandoning them at the bus stop  after he is gone for many hours and suddenly burst into tears. Yes its sad that their parents abandoned them, but their oldest brother too? What was more was that he was actually dying?

So in short, this show does have its emotional moments. Yes the comedy is golden ( DEATH NOTE PARODY IS TOO GOOD), but it really hits some emotional notes. And to those who I made this show seem like a drama, I apologize. I will offer one great heartwarming moment. At the end of the series after her butler left,  the butler sends her a letter that he got married enjoys life, but also telling her that she is special.
