I'm just pointing out the irony of how inconsistent these tests can be.

That also goes to what I was saying some of these reviews are done on test benches while others are in actual cases giving more real world results. ( this is more aimed at Tatsujin but can apply to anyone) A great source of info can come from Linus techtips and NIX techtips, over on youtube and they both have forums as well.

mounting closed-liquid in front as intake has the highest cooling result, at the expense of elevating the other component's temps.
its because with that setup the rads would have the coldest possible feed on top of the exhaust being channeled away from the intake.
the advantage of closed-liquid has over standard air cooling is it's easy positioning, you can place it anywhere you want but for the best result have it in a top mount or front mount position.
the problematic part of it though is that it needs a good mounting position, cases with bad vents aren't a good candidate for closed-liquid.

I think a better question is probably whether his RAM, since he chose some that are kinda high profile, will actually fit with a large cooler.

The NH-D14 will fit the G.skill ripjaws x, But the biggest problem with it and all large coolers like it is that to do almost anything you have to remove it to get full access to everything.

because if he doesn't then either D14(due to it's price and silentness) or Kraken X40 in silent-mode(again price and silentness, also performance wooper) should be a more tempting choice, i'm betting on the kraken.

I'm not thinking of overclocking, yet. I want to get the system running first with minimum parts, then all the parts excluding the GPU's, then install the GPU's afterwards. Then I'll do more research on overclocking the CPU. I may or may not overclock it.

The RAM will fit with the D14, it's a low-profile RAM.
The D14 isn't a pain in the ass to install, is it? Plus you can remove the fans easily or adjust them upwards or downwards.
