^ The build is about done, only thing that I'm still having doubts about are between the H100, D14 and the V8 GTS. Brand names or no brand names, I go with professional reviews and reviews from people that purchased stuff and reviewed it, etc. I do my own research and thanks to all the people who've given me a thing or two in this thread it helped me tune and finalize my gear. As far as a mouse and a keyboard ... just .. no. I have the G600 and the K70 which are among the very best on the market.

So if you want to contribute, look over the CPU cooler discussions and contribute to that.

H100i if you plan on swapping the stock fans with SP120-quiet, otherwise its gotta be one hell of a noisy screamer when you load it.
an alternative to D14 is Phanteks PH-TC14PE which is a bit cheaper than D14 as well, it performs identical to H110 if thats what you ask.

What it'll come down to Tatsujin is this.

In OC H100i beats the NH-D14 By a decent little bit
At stock idle H100i has edge depending on ambient temps then the edge could swing to the NH-D14 slighty (1c or 2c)
If you intended to upgrade in the next 3 years then you'll probably get a new CPU cooler (speaking to H100i)
If you want a set it and forget it cooler Then the NH-D14 will last longer (theoretically speaking)
if you want solid super long lasting performance (3-5 years) Get that NH-D14 or it's newest version (they may have released something this year not sure....) Or something comparable.
If you want the best in raw performance the get the H100i.

How about H110 and 2x Corsair AF140. Mount them to the side panel of the Blackhawk Ultra and mounting the AF140 to the other side of the radiator for more airflow.

The questions: Would they fit on the side panel? Which direction should the air be blowing? Inside the case or outside?

What do you guys think?

Other options -- Cougar CF-V14H.

You would have to remove it every time you opened the case and be careful no to drop it when removing it. I've seen that the best is with the fans set up as exhaust, Unless there crazy high static pressure.

don't use corsair's AF on rads or sinks, they are meant for free-flow and not slapped against a bottlenecked array of fins.
the rad as a side-intake in horizontal position in-line with the rams and vrm heatsinks should result with lower overall temps on the entire motherboard as well.

wouldn't the overall cost be ridiculous though? closed-loop + fans ends up at over $140, nearly twice the price of D14.
the extra 2c shaved for the additional cost isn't gonna be worth it, you should just target maintaining temps at under 70c, in which case a stock D14 should be plenty capable of, even with OCed to 4.2Ghz.

haswell's OC lottery sucks though, it seems theres a lot less people reaching higher than 4.5Ghz not due to temps but due to stability issues.

Just buy the NH-D14 line the side with fans and a daisy chain of connects so you only have to pull one plug to get the side off, Set them to a High quality fan connector and enjoy a cool, quiet rig.

I wasn't making a recommendation with those last three items. It was a just joke. I thought including the Embody chair while urging you to save money would've indicated that, but I guess I could have written it better.

On the CPU cooler front, I am not too knowledgeable, but from what I see, the other forum members have already presented some of your best options for Air Cooling and All In One liquid cooling.

The Noctua NH-D14 is basically king of the hill right now. There are other cpu coolers that provide better cooling and lower noise, but the D14 is proven and can be had at a bargain right now. $79

The Phanteks PH-TC14PE beats it in performance in most reviews and is probably the best air cooling you'll get for your PC. It is surprisingly quiet, too. $90

Not many reviews of Cooler Master's V8 GTS has shown up. I only found HardwareSecrets's review to be honest. The V8 seems like it can only match the D14 in cooling performance, but I don't know that for certain. It might be a good purchase if you just don't want to deal with the PH-TC14PE and its huge self.

Noctuna's NH-U14s does not seem to have been mentioned in this thread. In the default single fan setup, it cools slightly than the Phanteks while being $20 cheaper and quieter. If you drop another $27 on it, it'll trade blows with the Phanteks while being quieter still (and $14 more expensive). $77+ $27

I personally like the closed loop liquid coolers just because they make the inside look cleaner. Even though they perform about the same as an air cooler I amd willing to pay extra for aesthetics.

Honestly with the CPU cooler... if you aren't overclocking it doesn't even matter. Put it in a randomizer, flip a coin. It's hard to go wrong. You may not get the best temperatures ever depending on what you pick, but it's hard to go wrong or get something that's going to flat out not do its job.

I suppose if you're encoding or rendering things which takes long periods of time at high load then you'd want one of the better ones, but for most intents and purposes most any would be fine.

Air coolers will also provide the benefit of adding some airflow on your motherboard which closed loop liquid coolers won't do.

If we can't really see the inside then it's pointless to look for something which improves the inside looks.
But that is a very expensive case, for something that looks and resembles a CM 690 II, of course not as large as the Black Hawk.

Do you guys think ReadyBoost would help performance with the gear I've listed? Some of the stuff is not up to date on the first page. I may not get the 120GB SSD and just go with the 240GB and get another one.

Honestly just get a 840 pro and forget the rest.... It really looks like something like that would just kill the drive a lot faster anyways, Also yes the evo has thew turbo write but that should be coming to the 840 pro also.
