Three series refuse to play subtitle track
« on: August 10, 2013, 02:53:30 AM »
I have three series (well, two OVAs and one series) that will not play subtitles in VLC. All other .mkv files I have downloaded from BakaBT have working subtitles. They all state that they have subtitle tracks, but even after disabling and re-enabling the subtitles they still didn't work. I'm unsure if this is just on my end or what. I have tried re-downloading them, but that did not fix the problem.

The three are:
.Hack//Liminality: http://bakabt.me/162278-hack-liminality-xvid-704x396-b-a.html
.Hack//Gift: http://bakabt.me/162275-#comm551495
.Hack//Legend of the Twilight: http://bakabt.me/details.php?id=127882&page=4#comments

I have all the other .Hack series that BakaBT has to offer and all of them have working subtitles, so I am utterly baffled.

I seem to have fixed this problem. I uninstalled VLC v2.0.7 completely and installed v2.0.5 and that seemed to do the trick! Thank you.

VLC.

There's your problem.

I use CCCP. Never had any hiccups with it on a default install.

All three work fine in VLC Player v.2.0.5.

I have VLC Player v2.0.7, perhaps I should change to v2.0.5?

No, ditch VLC entirely for anime.

Search the Wiki for "playback."

Lately VLC has become a passable player. However, it is definitely not the best one available.
