Seeding too slow
« on: August 22, 2013, 05:03:19 PM »
I've been downloading for a couple a weeks by now but I recently noticed that my ratio isn't that good  :( I don't mind seeding, my pc is on almost 24/7, but I can't find any good files to seed. When I'm downloading the average speed is 8-9mb/s while when I'm seeding the speed rarely reaches 50kb/s. I was wondering if there's a way to know which files need more seeds so that I can download them and then leave my pc to seed.

p.s. English is not my first language so I'm sorry if I made any mistakes :)

Current ratio of seeders/leechers on BakaBT is 21,4:1 so it's just natural you download things really fast (as 21 people seed to you) and upload slowly (because you have to compete with 20 more seeders).

Now I will quote the wiki for you :

Quote
BakaBT is not the only source of downloadable anime. Try the sources listed above. You'll be surprised at how much stuff is available outside of BakaBT. Download something that's recent and in demand, and seed it here to fix your ratio. You can organize the browse list by leechers to see what is in demand. Downloading the files for offers that will be approved soon and seeding those is also a good way to fix your ratio.

Basically just try to find a torrent with the best seeder/leecher ratio, download it from elsewhere (e.g. nyaa.eu) and seed it here to improve your ratio.
Also to understand the concept of torrents and why is your upload so slow on BakaBT here is a quote from Southrop

Think about it like this. There are 28 seeders and 0 leechers on the torrent. If we imagine that this torrent is a street, and all the seeders own a cake shop on this street. So that means there are 28 cake shops selling the exact same cakes, and no people walking down the street wanting to buy cakes. How are you going to sell a cake if no one wants a cake?

Alternatively, for the torrents you're seeding that do actually have seeders, There are 329 seeders and 16 leechers. Imagine a street with all 329 seeders owning coffee shops on it, and only 16 people walking down the street wanting to buy coffee. How likely is it for any one of these 16 people to walk into your coffee shop?
