4K Video + Monitor and Computer Specs
Gh0st93:
I really wasn't speaking to you directly, I was just pointing something out that I hadn't seen some light put on. Also televisions have a different suite of controls and options along with an inferred receiver for remotes. And really anything past mainly 30 inches and you have to go to televisions anyways so really it's not the fairest of comparisons.
LillyTown:
You're right that it's not really fair to compare a 20" screen to a 80" screen, the difference in dot pitch is massive(well... 400% to be exact). I was just giving examples at the extreme ends of the spectrum for illustration sake. I should point out that a lot of what I've said in here has been overly basic and simplified for others that might not be so knowledgeable on electronics. I'm sure most that have been around for a while know a bit about digital video, much more than myself I'm sure. You're bound to learn at least the basics in figuring out how to get hi10p fansubs to play unless you go the CCCP route. Even still....
That was a good point about USB and typical connections. My older HDTV doesn't have USB, DVI or VGA but my newer one(LG) has VGA, HDMI, USB and I *believe* it even has DVI but I can't say without taking it off the wall. Fucker has all kinds of connections... component, coax...
Just thought of something else.... Do you think 120Hz(or some other multiple of 24Hz) refresh rates will become more common to support playback of '24p' video without 2:3 pulldown?
zherok:
Depends on how much of a niche 120hz remains. Pushing two cost-driving standards at once probably doesn't help adoption rates of either. But what would you do with a 4k 120hz monitor now that justifies the cost? Especially when by the time content is common there'll be far cheaper and better displays that do the same thing.
Regarding projectors though, how practical are those as actual monitors? It kinda feels like you're talking almost exclusively about displays so large they'd be pretty hard to use at an actual desk.
Gh0st93:
The projector thing could defiantly be done if given a good bit of thought, as for 120hz monitors I really just see them being pushed with brands for either gaming or higher end home theater stuff.

4k video? Holy shit.
First world problems much?
