noob question about mysterious Squares

Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong section i didnt know where to ask it

ok so im going to sound dumb but every once in a while i see on ppls Avatars 4 Squares in the bottem right what does that mean? dose it have to do w/ the old site or something. thx for any help :)

Usually staff or related to staff somehow. There's some meaning to how they're colored, but that information is not given to the general public.

Outside of BBT they signal the relationship status of the person though.

Here no one knows really, signatures of somekind was the general consensus the last time I think.
