Looking for anime or harems where the guy actually chooses.

This is my 2nd watch-through of Kenshin. And I'm waiting on english dubs for Hellsing, which'll be awesome no matter what.
As far as that SoL & MOE argument. I really don't need to get into a flame war about this. We all know that Type A anime don't outsell Type B anime, even though Type A are superior on an intellectual base. Type B on the other hand sells merchandise because it caters to the obsessed no-lifers who just wanna watch cute expressions, bouncing tits, and panty shots. There are also Type C anime which are kinda of like hybrids, but those are usually caused by animation companies being liberal with the source material, shifting the art a bit toward Type B so it'll sell better.
Examples of Type A:
Ghost in the Shell
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf's Rain
Death Note
Casshern Sins
Berserk
Dennou Coil
Planetes
xxxHolic
Examples of Type B:
K-On!
Haruhi
Lucky Star
Girls Bravo
Kiss x Sis
Strike Witches
Basically everything ever made by Kyoto Animation.
Examples of Type C:
The ToAru series (Conversion of characters faces to make them "cuter")
Jormungand (The Breasts)
Now that I think about it, nearly anything that has female fighters or a "Trip to the Beach" episode.

As I said, there is no argument available to you, nothing to flame war over. My opinion is clearly right and yours is wrong. Because we're on the internet and I say it is so! ;) No but really I like almost every anime you've listed, I just happen to also like moe/ecchi/etc. The general plot-line of "Some bad shit goes down, so our bad-ass protagonists must go battle/try to outwit the equally bad-ass antagonist." isn't any more appealing to me than "Cutesy protagonists(+/- male lead) form club, then do club activities while overcoming random obstacles." It may be even less appealing, as most action based anime seems pretty adolescent to me, with near endless fight scenes and explosions, episode after episode. It's easy to write a successful story around some great conflict, with fighting, death, and so on- which people are naturally drawn to. Writing an interesting story that many people enjoy, set in a plain/boring environment, with nothing other than character interaction/character development structured around the trappings of everyday life, is a lot more impressive to me.

I really didn't enjoy Fullmetal Panic, so I never watched any sequels. It was like the producers went "Okay, lets make Episodes 1-7 have plot, then don't add any plot till 23 & 24 to finish it," and nobody asked why. I mean really, a mecha anime with 24 episodes that has less than 10 minutes combined of actual scenes where the MC is actually fighting with one? Hell, the submarine saw more action!

Yeah, but I think what you're describing as a negative is more Shounen than Seinen. I have to agree with you that the majority of Shounen are boring because they repeat the same tired plot type in each show. There are a few that do it better than others, like Fullmetal Alchemist, but so many of them are really terrible.

-1 On Ore no Imouto. Long story short, the MC picks a good one, then fucks up.
(click to show/hide)He picks one of the 6 girls available, and she's a pretty damn fine choice in terms of personality, probably the best option. But she dumps him because he's not really in love with her, then ends up with his sister, who is the worst choice IMO, not to mention really fucked up when he already has a "childhood friend" who was ready to marry him had he only asked.

Why would you spoil a series in anime recommendations?
--- End quote ---
Because it's a MOE anime, and therefore deserves no respect.

And who are exactly you to make such a claim? Let people enjoy their stuff without acting like a total asshole.
