The easy way out when you are 'warned'?
« on: September 19, 2013, 04:50:23 PM »
Why is it people are getting into 'troubles' (getting warned) and not taking PFCorner's easy way out?
Most of the warned users are just abandoning their account and quit.
Oke, I get it, quitting is more easy. But quitting doesn't solves the 'problem'.
BakaBT is too much fun to quit, otherwise someone didn't signup with BakaBT in the first place.

So, take 1 of the 3 PFCorner 'solutions' when you need a way out, the link is 2 lines down :)

Or just seed. Takes a while to get it up but its not like you really need to do anything special for it ;)
Im at the point where im probably not even able to get warned for bad seed/leech ratio XD

People are probably used to using torrents like disposable media, downloading, dumping when they're done, and then finding out that's not how a private tracker works. Which shouldn't really matter on Bakabt since you can operate entirely off the public key and only lose using bakabt's searches and immediate access to new torrents. If you're downloading stuff from an archive site you're already not getting them as fast as they come out. Not really that big a deal.

Honestly? Most people don't know about it.

From PFCorner's userpage: It seems just a waste of time, we never get any reply.
When even Personal Mail doesn't convince people to accept help, those people surely need help.
In case warned users don't want to accept help, then PFCorner is wasting their time (and resources), obviously.

Maybe those weekly 'you have been warned and we don't give a damn about you' emails should be changed.
Let those people feel they are a 'valued user', but have forgotten to seed.
Not being just another user biting the dust, because of disrespecting the rules.
Not everybody understands what bittorrent is all about.
Warn them at 25 GB, offering them a way out until they download 50 GB (or something like that, to finish unfinished downloads).
All currently 'warned' users should be emailed (those weekly emails should be fine) about PFCorner is still offering an easy way out.
And grant them upto 50 GB. In a couple of weeks, evaluate how many 'warned' users are trying to solve their problem.
Still a 'hit and run' mentality? Then back to the old 25 GB and change 'warned' to a more a more appropiate title.

Warned users aren't valued users though. The site has a 22:1 average seed to leecher ratio. Whether one user gets warned and then never comes back again isn't going to hurt the site one bit.

maybe they don't  know how the "payment" method...
(click to show/hide)

plus, they never try to seed a torrent long enough(unlike me 24/7/365 seeding)...or confused why the torrent is not seeding

If I'm not mistaken, PFCorner no longer charges for seeding services.

correct me if im wrong, the freeleech season only happen on holiday(Xmas)

Site-wide freeleech happens during the Christmas holidays (actually it's more like it starts within 2 days before or after Christmas and lasts for 2-3 weeks). Torrents matching certain criteria (1080p material, torrents <100MB, artbooks, music videos) are freeleech year-round.

You also lose access to hentai content ^^' .

I'm with those here, who argue that the site simply doesn't need the boneheads who simply can not be bothered to even find out what the rules are, much less follow them, when the site will (mostly) work without ever even having an account.   I don't believe you're going to reach that type of person, no matter how "nice" a reminder email you send out; it's just a waste of bandwidth.

At some point, there's a line where the onus of being a good user stops with the site, and starts with the user. BakaBT is already far easier on ratio requirements than most sites that bother to to track ratio at all.

i know about that, but im talking about other kind of payment, hence the "payment", something like "i do it for you, and you click on something using my referral-related thinggy"

From http://bakabt.pfcorner.eu/:

In return for our work, you have to signup with COPY, using this link: https://copy.com/?r=MHQseL, even when you want to use service 1 or 2, because we need your help with COPY (for service number 3).

Which makes this 'payment' is also for the BakaBT-thingy. Even better, it doesn't cost anybody a penny/cent/buck. It takes only a couple of minutes to signup and finish the procedure.
Even when you don't 'need' COPY (because you use SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or something like that), just get COPY going. And uninstall it afterwards.
But COPY offers the most cloud-storagespace (15+5=20 GB), but when used with PFCorner for BakaBT-purposes, it can be 40 GB or more. For just a couple of minutes work.

Just saying, but Weiyun offers 10TB, and ADrive offers 50GB for free (and SkyDrive gives me 25GB because I signed up back in 2012 too). :P

edit:
According to this thread, they have a file size limit at 300 MB.
...but their service seems too good to be true anyhow.

Edit: Wait, that thread also says that you need to use up 1 TB to raise the limit to 10 TB...?
300MB? NOPE. This was one of the first things I tested.

Also the 10TB thing is a bit weird. Some people say they apparently 'top up' your storage amount as you use it up until you reach 10TB, but it says 10TB for me already, despite only having used 41.72GB.

Yeah, I use my Dropbox to backup the stories that I write because those are creative works that if my computer exploded or my house burnt down I'd never be able to replace. I have some of them backed up on a USB stick too but I just create the rtf files in my Dropbox so as I write I know they'll be safe no matter what happens. It gives me a nice peace of mind.
