School Rumble

Heya.

I have finished watching the first 3 episodes of School Rumble. It has a great rating on anidb, and apparently has won 2 awards, but for some reason I don't really click with it. To me it seems it doesn't really have a story, and the episodes seem to be made of super silly scenarios. And it keeps dragging and dragging.

I was just wondering if the story will get better, and if it's worth keep watching it, or if the remaining of the series will be similiar to the first 3 episodes.

For reference, I loved anime such as Clannad, Kanon, Angel Beats, Toradora, Suzumiya Haruhi, Amagami SS, True Tears, etc. Will I find something similiar, or this is a total different genre?

While those show you mention focus mostly on drama and romance, School Rumble focus mostly on comedy and slapstick humor, so it is up to yourself whatever or not you will continue watching.

Right, so does the show pretty much keep going on the same route until the end? There is not really a developing storyline?

I'm all for comedy and humor too, but if there is no story developing, I don't really enjoy it as much. I was hoping for something similiar to those series I mentioned earlier. Would I not find it here?

The story really follows the pitiful attempts of Harima & Tenma to get their love interests to notice them. There is some story development along the way but if you're looking for something moving like Clannad this isn't it. I still gave it an 8/10 for the comedy alone - it's one of the funniest anime's I've seen and the romance keeps it cute & interesting.

BTW I've seen all these and they are my favorite genre as well. Only one I couldn't get into was Amagami SS.

You might also like AnoHana, Ef, Hyouka, Hanasaku Iroha & Kimi Ni Todoke to name a few.. all good ones.
