Question about becoming power uploader
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:19:18 PM »
I was wondering at what point is someone considered for power uploader. I looked at the wiki/forums and I didn't see much on the subject. Is the some qualifications that should be met?

thanks for any answers. :)

Granting someone Power Uploader status is purely by moderator decision. There is no 'qualification' to it.

Circumstances in which we would decide on a power uploader would be if the user uploads a lot and rarely needs any correction to the description.

It was in the wiki...

Uh, wouldn't you naturally draw that conclusion given the description of the Power Uploader? Like, people who can upload without requiring approval and appointed by staff if deemed trustworthy would probably only be chosen if they regularly upload a lot of stuff that rarely needs fixing?

No offense, but you must see Captain Obvious in your life pretty frequently if you need that spelled out for you...

I was more or less asking if there was any unwritten rules for becoming one.

There are generally no unwritten rules on BakaBT. If a rule exists, it's written somewhere in a location that may or may not be obvious.

I'll just add to his core question of "I was wondering at what point is someone considered for power uploader" since I think there are a few specific things that could be said about this yet.

(1.  If you upload anime it is much less likely you will be given power uploader.  Anime has a much more crowded market for releases so mods need to really comb through that one and it would make the site much more disorganized if people could upload anime straight to the torrent pool.

This is why there are like a dozen manga power uploaders but only like 1 anime power uploader.

(2.  You don't ask for the status.  Mods give it out.  One day you will randomly get a pm from a mod telling you you have it.

I'll just add that many people don't actually want power uploader.  It's more work/responsibility.  There's also a few annoying things about bypassing the offer page that some uploaders don't like.
