uTorrent doesn't work, need help
« on: October 11, 2013, 02:44:27 PM »
Hey there :)

My uTorrent doesn't work, got that issue after one night.

My uTorrent was perfect, before i got on bed i did have like 10 downloaded files, and around 80 uploaded files.
But when i wake up my computer did restarted somehow middle on the night (dunno way :s), anyway...
And when i was trying to open uTorrent, everything was stopped :(
I mean after the first controlled one (Kontrollera on Swedish, but on English version its saying controlling i think :P) raised to 99.9% then
it sopped, thats mean all files that was not completed can't be downloaded because its on Queue...

I have tried to stop everything on my torrent list, but its doesn't help.
And that's not all, all files on upload doesn't upload at alls, everything has stopped...

Dunno where the problem is, my computer, or uTorrent.
I dont like uTorrent now when its happen like this!
Everytime i need to reopen uTorrent (like after restarting computer, or close uTorrent) then it happen like this :s.

//Johan.

P.S!

Always when i reopen uTorrent, then i can see fast before the first control check raised to 99.99%
that 1 or 2 first downloaded files downloaded in like 300-900kb/sec and around 30-40 uploaded files upload 1-50kb/sec.

I have tested to stop the first control before it raised to 99.9%, in that way i can upload no-problem at alls, and even
download 1 or 2 files that doesn't need to be controlled when reopen uTorrent.

Any idea how to fix this stupid bug??

1) Set uTorrent to ENGLISH.
2) When crashed, uTorrent does a FORCED RECHECK for every torrent in doubt.
3) Until this checking has finished, most of the torrents won't start, because
dowloading or seeding will slowdown this rechecking (in general).
4) just wait until uTorrent finished rechecking and then start every torrent you
want, when they don't start automatically.
5) Assuming you blame uTorrent, downgrade to version 2.2.1 and NEVER upgrade
    again.
6) Adjust cache settings, the default won't (generally) work on (relatively) fast
connections (as you probably have in Sweden).
7) enable the statusbar (toggle with F6) and watch for 'diskoverload' messages
in the left part of the statusbar. When this happens, then reduce the number
of simultaneous connections and/or simultaneous downloads.
8) Check advanced settings, bt.graceful_shutdow n MUST be true.
9) Set diskio.sparse_files (on NTFS) to true.
10) When you download TO and external USB2-drive, DON'T do this anymore.

If you properly closed uTorrent before you switched to the older build, all your torrents should just show up when you start it up again, assuming you didn't clear out your preferences and cache when you uninstalled.

Look around in your Application Data folder. It should be hidden away somewhere in your main Users directory (or Documents and Settings in XP) under your username. Find uTorrent's folder and go inside, rename resume.dat (something like that) into something else, then make a copy of resume.dat.old (something like that; could be .bak) and remove the .old (or .bak) from the file extension. If that doesn't bring your torrents back, change your renamed resume.dat back to what it was and start re-adding all your torrents.

Note you should do all that while uTorrent is fully shut down.

I was having this problem too on 3.2.1 version of uTorrent. I followed Big Teeth's instructions and opted for 2.2.1 and now I'm seeding again. Version 2.0 seems odd now that I'm back on it again.
Thanks!
