If you disable the Exp. Share which you receive after the first badge you can have your grinding back. It is recommended to disable it from time to time if you still want challenging gym battles.

I knew nothing of the outside world. I was just a frog in a well.

Well at first I thought it would just cut down on grinding and give me reasonable levels. Instead I ended up like 2x the level of the gym in most cases. I don't think they thought the whole "0.5x exp for everything even if it's not active" thing out too well.

It's like 2.5x the exp just for your benches and your active gets more. Ends up snowballing so hard...

Cute, huh?

They've never really been terribly hard games, so I'm not sure if keeping the grind the same would have made it better this time around.

I got through most of the elite four with my starter and a Flareon. The other pokemon in my party were mostly along for the XP.

I beg to differ, I found that in the original games and some of the Gold/Silver on the GB/GBC, some things took some real thinking (especially the Elite 4 in the originals). It was also pretty damn hard to level, too. Well granted I was younger at the time though.

I was just looking for Eevees to breed yesterday, and then I found and caught a shiny Golett.  I hear the odds of finding one is practically zero, but it happened.

Now that I have it, I don't know what to do with it.  I'm afraid I might raise it inefficiently or something...

EDIT:  That's weird.   My shiny Golett's stats seem lower than my normal Golett.  I always thought shiny ones are stronger than normal ones.

Did a tiny bit of reading on google. Looks like they tended to have a higher IV than the normal ones in a few of the older games, but that changed with like gen 3 or something. Doesn't seem to really be much point in looking for shinies at all other than the peen factor. Trust me, no one's gonna get an ounce of applause from me lol. You know how much I give a shit? About as much as I care about the inside of my computer looking good.

That is, none.

I guess it gives people some reason to keep playing, though... I'd worry about filling the entire pokedex up before I'd worry about that, though.

Cute, huh?

Or if you want to balance the levels on your team, I had my Lapras behind a bit so I disabled it for a little while.

Well, originally shiny didn't mean that, I remember the egg you got in gold/silver originally, and having it be a shiny smoochum, who had stats in the floor.  Maybe its the natures of it, regardless leveling ev's "badly" is impossible in the game, even if you max it out there are a few ways to set your ev's to zero, like the reset bag in super training.  Although running into a shiny in the wild is rare, its definitely easier to breed them with the matsuda method since b/w, although I managed to breed a shiny magnemite without that just trying to fill the pokedex entry, now I need to do it again for a normal one....

I'll add Arveene and N2O in the morning, if that's all right with you two. Mine's 3695-0119-5641. I also have a Tentacool if you still need one, Arveene (it's just normal with no hidden ability or anything).

I've been told that mine is Water with Poliwhirl, Quagsire, and Panpour.
Added you and sent the message with my code

If you've leveled your Golett some, it probably has some EVs. A freshly caught pokemon won't have any. Also, IVs will cause some slight variations in stats as well.

If anyone is really really into breeding, I have a list of my 5IV pokes / breeding pairs / etc. here

Edit: I cleaned out my friends list a little bit the other day. My apologizes if I removed someone, but I don't think I removed anyone from here.

Both Goletts were untouched when I wrote that.  After comparing them a few days ago, the regular one had slightly higher IVs.

Finally got a pair of Ralts with 5IVs.  I hope I get a 6IV from them soon.

1/31 chance, which isn't too bad considering what the chances used to be without RNG abuse. I've probably hatched about 10 6IV pokemon so far.

Edit: Actually 1/31 chance is with 2 6IV pokemon. I'm retarded. Anyways, anyone interested in doing some battling or trading, let me know.

I finally got my first 6IV Ralts.  As far as I remember, I started breeding nearly a month ago.  It really does take time, but it was fun in a way.  I'm now trying to get another 6IV Ralts.  I'm turning the one I have into a Gallade ASAP.

That reminds me.  I've checked around the GTS, and this bothers me.  There are a lot of players out there who wants a legendary Pokemon in exchange for their common Pokemon.  What's up with that?

People hoping some little kid is going to trade away his legendary for something easily obtained most likely. Sometimes people don't know where something is easily found at. Especially when it comes to some friend safari pokemon. Sometimes people try to say something is a 5IV and want a legendary for it. While that might be a fair trade, it's probably not really 5IVs.

Speaking of 6IV pokemon. I almost have a 6IV male of every egg group. If anyone has a 6IV male from Water 1, Water 2, Water 3, or Mineral, I can probably trade you something worth it. I currently have a 6IV male Volbeat (Human-Like, Bug) I'm looking to trade for a Water 1 + Water 2 or Water 1 + Water 3 male. I could also trade a 5IV set of Volbeats (-Atk, -SpA) for a singular egg group 6IV male from Mineral, Water 2, or Water 3.

Any good people willing to help me evolve certain of my pokemons by trade?

My return to Pokemon is a glorious one indeed. A lot has happened since I played Gold.

Of course the graphics are out of this world. I want to get every pokemon and use them in battle just to see how their animation is. Wonderful to see how long it has come. I love how the camera will shift sometimes when just running around to highlight something in particular.

A nice addition is passives. And two-way battles, but it's a shame they don't happen more frequently. Also a shame X&Y didn't focus a bit more on buff and debuffs. It really makes the whole game more complex and compelling, but it is focused on kids still. So I guess you can't make it too complicated.

The GTS is very awesome. I spent a lot of time trying to get all the starter pokemons and I am only missing Turtwig, Piplup, Tepig, Oshawott now. They're not all awesome, but it's just very fun to me since they're the most common "can't get them all" Pokemon to me. Just evolved my Wartortle to a Blastoise. He looks sweet! I bet trading will be more fun when I have access to Friend Safari. It looks like I might come close to getting a good amount of Pokemon in this game. Just hate it when people trade SPA, GER or JPN versions of their pokemons. Or when they've been nicknamed or have Japanese names. For the GTS I really wish there was a feature so that you could search for people who wanted a specific pokemon instead of a specific pokemon you want. As in "I wonder what I can get for this one?"

Wonder Trade is also cool. Right now I am just trading mons that I don't need anymore or other shitty ones that others trade me. I did get a Amaura which was cool since I chose a Tyrunt in-game.

I am tempted to try some anime or manga related to Pokemon, but it'll probably just be a movie or two. The TV show is just too long and too pandering to kids. The dialogue is fucking horrible too.

I think I have six badges. And I am just levelling my starter pokemon to their final evolution.

I have to say I bought this game when I was in Maryland and I never really finished it, it always felt like I'd run into battles way unprepared. Granted I haven't bout a Pokemon game since Ruby so yeah unprepared. I like it though it brought back fond memories though it felt like every Pokemon I fought for as a kid they were just handing out like sack lunches. I got like 4 starter Pokemon for literally just walking around...oh how the times have changed. I'll be sure to add you though.

Anyone still looking for friend codes??  I don't know what type I have but I need more friend safari areas. I finished the game and completed the pokedex for shiny charm. If anyone also wants to trade I'm game (excluding some event pokemon). Please PM me for Friend Code exchange. :D
