Ratio Crysis
« on: October 26, 2013, 10:53:52 PM »
Well, my UL/DL ratio sucks, I've been warned and the man upstairs locked me out of downloading but how can I upload when there are far more seeders then peers? Im talking 70 seeders and 1 leechers for all the torrents I've downloaded thus far. The most is K-On with 6 leechers but even if I stop all active torrents except K-on I don't upload anything. And when I do upload its not much maybe 6-7 kb/s would take forever to get a decent ratio. You guys are doing too good of a job! I'd donate but that's locked out as well. I guess I'm just trying to find a way to get my downloading rights back.

Anyways got a great set-up here sure as hell beats fighting with google and piratebay trying to find solid anime torrents. You got my congrats wish the rest of the internet was like bakaBT.

Hmmm... you could try downloading torrents on either the public tracker or nyaa, then switching over to the private torrent and seeding there.

Also Freeleech and Hentai are your friend^^

Haha guess there really is no shortage of porn circulating the internet. But no easy way out eh? Would rather give my money to this place than those damn ISP companies when I go over my bandwidth.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, donations are closed, but you could always consider renting a seedbox. whatbox.ca offers decent plans for their rates. That way, it wouldn't be your ISP getting the money, but a third party, that doesn't charge you for ever GB you go over your limit, it only slows down your speed to a "paltry" 10Mbit (from 150Mbit before that)

Just found a few more torrents in my library that I had downloaded elsewhere but will work for bakaBT they are a bit more popular too, how convenient. A few nights of uploading and should be all caught up.

Appreciate the assistance. Thank you very much

I thought BigTeeth said he was not continuing that?
Or am I mistaken and read something wrong a few months ago?
I'll do the flipping on webcam so people know it's legit.

RustyKuntz, you've come across one of the best ways to repair a damaged ratio: downloading identical content elsewhere and seeding it here.

The best way - without using a seedbox - to attain and keep a good ratio, however, is simply to keep as many torrents as possible, seeding for as long as possible.  For example, currently I'm seeding 47 torrents (max ever was about 250) at roughly 140 KB/s total.  My ratio at the moment is 3.242 (U: 7106.64 GB, D: 2192.07 GB). and I've *never* downloaded under a public key, acquired content from somewhere else to seed, downloaded torrents with lots of leechers, or used a seedbox (all useful ways to repair a damaged ratio); I just seeded lots of torrents for long periods of time.  I think you'll find that a majority of users with decent ratios did it in a similar way, although I've honestly never done any research on the subject.

By "as many torrents as possible", I mean at least 20 or so, preferably 40-50 or more.  Once you have a solid set of seeding torrents, you'll find that you always get at least some seeding action.

Im kinda new to these things so excuse me for being noob. Do seedbox need a good internet connections? coz here in my country the average internet speed is only 1-5 mbps and im in the middle with 3mbps and if i read it right seedbox will download the file you want for 10mbps-1gbps. Also about the uploading does it interfere with my connections like it will slow me down when it uploads at 10mb/s or im completely unaffected and free to use all my internet speeds for my own use? thank you for who can clarify this.

Lastly whats the best seedbox that you guys can recommend?

A seedbox has absolutely nothing to do with your system, except at those times you are downloading completed files from it or uploading new stuff to seed; that's exactly the main point of using a seedbox.

The other reason to use a seedbox is that it gives you at least partial protection vs. observation (and hence, litigation) by anti-P2P forces.

Thanks for the fast reply.. So basically that means..

1.) I wont need to worry about my crappy internet connection to dl big files such as 70gb?

2.) I can play my online games while downloading/uploading at high speed torrents?

3.) I will still rely on my crappy connection to move files from seedbox to my pc?

What are good/tested seedbox sites do you recommend? Thanks in advance for giving clarifications..  :)

1. yes, you can download them directly to your seedbox, and then move them to your pc via your own internet connection.
2. yes
3.yes, though your seedbox will use FTP and use as much speed as possible to get the files to you.

I've used whatbox, and I can't complain about them.

I have whatbox's plan with 115gb of space, 100mbit/s speed and unlimited bandwith, in 45 days I keept an average 20 GB worth of BBT torrents and it uploaded a bit over 1TB of data, though I seed Gintama, which gets a lot of downloads. Most BBT torrents I downloaded had an average download speed of 300mbit/s(even though my seedbox limit is 100, I guess it counts only on uploads), so even the biggest files go fast and you can almost instantly start downloading them on your pc.

If you keep a lot of series that you didin't watch yet on your HDD(I do), then I think you should add the things you want to download to your wishlist and wait for global freeleech, than download them all. Also, as guys before said, you should keep as many torrents alive as you can, though torrent settings are important too, I find that typical seeding on my uTorrent - 2 uploads at once, works good when I have underseeded public torrents, then, when you add unpopular but still public files, I need to change to 3 upload slots, because there are sometimes things that only 1 person is downloading and it doesn't even use my full UL speed. On BBT I open even more slots, because it is hard to find anyone to send to anyway, so you can set almost no limits.

Also, when you download files while not logged on, it doesn't count to your total DL, then you can edit the torrent and change the tracker addess to the one containing your key and upload it, afaik it is not prohibited to do so, before I registered on BBT I just found some torrents from here using Google, so I had 10-20 torrents to seed without any downloaded data logged :D

If its legal to DL files when your not log on then i dont think there would be any reason to have a bad ratio. Someone can confirm this please?

Yes, you can download torrents without being logged on; BakaBT is NOT a private tracker.  Ratio here is for e-peen, pretty much, although you do get some decent benefits for being a member in good standing.

The biggest caveat is that you can't download hentai without being logged in.
